WIFI Issues

Hi guys,

Has anyone noticed a issue with their phone and connecting to WIFI?

I have noticed that my phone had an issue when it was connected to a router that was using WEP2 as its security. It would cause the router to lose all internet connection until it was restarted.

If you have then change your security in your router settings to just WEP and it will work perfectly fine after that.

Can you change to WPA2-PSK instead? That's the best, most secure protocol to use.

That's what my router was on and it was causing so many issues.

I have read other forums which have people reporting issues with other sony Z models so i just wanted to throw it out there just in case

That's what my router was on and it was causing so many issues.

Was it WPA2-PSK/AES or WPA2-PSK/TKIP? AES is preferred.

WPA2-PSK/AES - correct. It wasn't just my router, I connected to a router in the apartment next door and it was the same issues. I don't know why but now I have changed the settings, its perfectly fine

I just found out my z5 can't connect to my Asus AC router while my Samsung S4 could 300 meter away from my home...

I don't know what the issue is...mine has started playing up again so i have just turned the WIFI off for the time being.

Is the router's firmware completely up to date?

And also, on the other hand, if you recently updated the firmware, you could try downgrading it again. I've had issues with prior routers where the updates actually messed things up, and it worked again after downgrading the firmware.

This sounds like it may be a different issue than what the OP posted about. The OP says that the router itself completely loses the internet connection when his Z5 is connected. If you're saying that you just can't connect your Z5 to the router, then you may want to create a new thread about your issue.

Seems like the recent sony update has fixed the problem with my phone and the router. It has been connected for the past 2 days with no issues.
