WiFi losing connection at random, needing toggle to reconnect?

I am having the same issue with my blue 32gb....but my wife with her white 32gb isnt having the same issue. Always is on my home wifi network, however I do not go anywhere else where I connect. Sometimes it auto detects when I get home, others it doesnt...then will randomly drop the wifi while I am at home...havent found a pattern as to why and when it does it

I had this problem also on my att galaxy note 2. The solution is to disable att smart wifi. For some reason smart wifi fights withbthe phones internal wireless. I personally think its because att wants you to use their network if its in range even if you prefer to use another.

Just had this problem with my wife's new Samsung Galaxy Express. Tried all the suggestions here but none worked. I removed the asterisk (*) from our Wi-Fi password and it worked like a charm. I hope this works for you too. I did try replacing the asterisk with a dollar sign ($) and that worked. If your don't have an asterisk in your password and it isn't working maybe try doing a test without any special characters to see if one of them is tripping up your device's wi-fi handshake.

Re: WiFi losing connection at random, needing toggle to reconnect

I'm having the same problem with my rezound. It started this week. Battery pull no help. It is constantly reconnecting to wifi and killing my battery. My husband is not having issues with his charge or zoom and my son is not having issue with his samsung note10.1 or iphone. Only my rezound is acting up so it is not our internet. Our 2 laptops and 1 desktop also no wifi issues.

Re: WiFi losing connection at random, needing toggle to reconnect

had my samsung s3 verizon for almost a year..its been working fine.. until like a month ago.. now it disconnects and reconnects to my network like every minute.. cannot watch any youtube videos... annoying.. tried everything you guys stated.. nothing works so far.. i did not download or change anything on my phone.. thought it was the router but it happens at home and at work.. and the other devices are fine..

oh yeah.. also... why when i punch in *#0011# it doesn't do anything?? tried hitting dial after that and also the left soft menu key.. does this not work with verizon?

Its random for me now. Sometimes it stays connected fine as now. Other times it constantly connects/ loses connection, I have no idea why. I have a G-Nex that does the same thing. I also have a sweet running Droid X (stock rooted) that does this.

Re: WiFi losing connection at random, needing toggle to reconnect

Thanks to those who suggested WiFi Fixer. It fixed my problem. I was dropping on tablet at home for months ( since I changed routers) and with this i've been connected for about a week with no problems.

Re: WiFi losing connection at random, needing toggle to reconnect

Two of my friends were visiting today. They both have S3's, one has had wifi issues from the beginning and the other has no issues. They both tried to access my wifi. One worked and the other kept dropping and getting no networks available I think it was. They live together and both use the same everything at home, one works, the other doesnt. I think its the quality of the parts and/or the build.

Re: WiFi losing connection at random, needing toggle to reconnect

My GS3 started having this problem about a month ago (purchased in mid-December). I've gone through the proposed solutions in this thread and none of it has helped. Any more ideas out there?

Re: WiFi losing connection at random, needing toggle to reconnect

I have a Samsung Galaxy Mini GT-S5570 and have the same dropping problem, connects fine then after a random amount of time it drops connection.

Fully updated, not rooted.

Its weird, I only used it as a phone for the first 2 months so only tried the wifi for more than a few mins after that time, so I did not realise it had a problem. The strange thing is, is if I factory reset it, the connection will hold for a day or two, then get progressively worse until it drops every couple of mins.

I am worried about sending it back, as they will just factory reset it and see it working then charge me for sending a working phone back to be tested (even if I describe the situation i am betting this is what they will do, as it is like talking to robots on the phone when you call them). VERY frustrating. (tried all the ideas in here with no luck :/)

Re: WiFi losing connection at random, needing toggle to reconnect

Still having problems here, too. Did another factory reset and it helped for a little while. My Nexus 7 has no issues with any wifi....can set them next to each other and the Galaxy connects for a split second and then disconnects....while the Nexus just stays connected. The Galaxy also has a habit of saying that it has 3G or 4G but when I try to do something that takes data, the app says there is no connection....not sure the two problems are related.....

I had this same problem ever since I bought the s3 and couldnt find an aswer so I did a bit of fidling around and realised it had to be the modem. I have a seperate modem and router and found they both have firewalls. I disabled the one on the modem and woohoo, everything is running brilliant.. wish I figured it out last year it was so bloody annoying.

Just thought I'd see if any help was ever forthcoming. There's a pattern here: lots of people with the issue, lots of "chicken blood" rituals for a fix, we imagine the problem is helped a bit, only to discover shortly that it is still there. I'm a pretty good hack, and the new-to-me SGS3 I have has the worst wifi integrity of any device in my menagerie: Galaxy Note 1 [flawless], 2 ipad minis [good, not as good as Note] several Win7 workstations, Galaxy S4G [humble phone; flawless with wifi], and a HTPC... none of these have wifi issues even remotely as disgusting as the SGS3

did anyone figure out if there were hardware issues with any of the runs? does this thing have an internal antenna wire/lead that has a connection that can go bad?
Is there a way to turn OFF scanning once it is connected? Did static setup ever cure anyone's ills PERMANENTLY?
Is the modem flaky? is there a better choice of modem with T-mobile features?

thx...

I rooted and installed CleanRom 6.0 R2 and the problem is 100% gone!

Think you just helped me answer the question of whether or not I'm rooting my refurbished S3 with naughty Wi-fi. Thanks!

Re: WiFi losing connection at random, needing toggle to reconnect

Good point!! I have a Note GT-N7000 with the same problem, but I am convinced it is NOT my router because it drops at other places around town and at friends house. It seems like it drops when the signal is too weak. Someone mentioned the "crappy" antenna - I wonder?? I am looking at rooting the device until KitKat comes out (I have never really liked JellyBean)..

you know, this is a really disappointing problem with every galaxy handset I know of except the one I luckily daily-drive: the original Note 1. the note 1 is like a rock on wifi. very dependable.
on the other hand, we've had S1, S2, S3, AND S4 and all of them have the dropping issue - very weak in terms of maintaining a connection. I have the S3 rigged with all the 'fixes' known and it still will randomly hang/drop/reconnect, especially, it seems, when it is in the presence of multiple AP's or routers that are about evenly-prevalent. that's my theory anyway. the S4 may be the worst of the bunch come to think of it. you can be line-of-sight to a router 25 feet away and it will wobble and drop. NO OTHER DEVICE in my extensive collection [I work on PC's and mac's etc] has that level of trouble. even ones that have notoriously weak wifi cards.

*bump* having the same problem. all WiFi networks are suddenly "out of range." computer is connecting just fine, so it's not a router issue. I have done a factory reset and problem is still there. :(
