Wifi not reactivating after sleep

I've had my 32GB Wifi Galaxy tab for almost a week now, and have noticed a wifi glitch that I haven't read about anywhere else. I have my Wifi setting set to only have Wifi on when the screen is on.

Almost daily, if the tab has been asleep for an extended period of time (we'll say an hour or more), it will not reconnect to my Wifi network automatically after I power the screen back on. I have to go into the Wifi settings, turn off Wifi (which takes about 30 seconds to turn off), and then turn on Wifi in order to get connected.

Anyone else experience this?

You're not alone as I also have experienced this issue from time to time on my galaxy 10.1 16gb tablet. I was looking at the wifi usage by the tablet during its sleep stages and notice small 'blips' of usage during sleep. Now, when you turn the tablet on you should have noticed that the wifi connects rather quickly compared to other wifi enabled devices which take 10-15 seconds to reconnect to an AP after the NIC has been diconnected, but this tablet connects within 3-5 seconds. I suppose they designed it to constantly ping the connection in intervals to keep some sort of connection I suppose. Also the fact that sleep with wifi enabled despite it being in standby eats more battery than keeping the tablet's wifi turned off and in sleep helps support the idea. Also when this happens the touch response on the screen doesn't work properly, seems to be a software bug hopefully samsung will have fixed with the new upcoming update within a few days, that is at least to be released to New York.

However, going back to the main issue at hand, I have noticed if you kill the samsung processes that dont deal with the heart of android it does seem to fix the issue. Hopefully this will be of help.

edit: or now even a simple reseting of the wifi seems to fix it, but from using it with all the samsung processes killed i haven't had issues with while samsung backup/update/syncing processes were running

it happens to me every now and again.. if you turn on airplane mode and the turn it off it resets the wifi connection pretty quick.

Any word guys? Mine just started to do this, concidence that it was just after the latest "mini" update? Maybe.

On top of the wifi not reactivating upon wake, sometimes I get this weird glitch where pushing the power button to wake turns on the screen, but I cannot interact with the touch screen, such at sometimes the only way I can turn off the device is to long hold the power button.

Anyways I digress. Point being, mine just started to do this wifi not reconnecting thing. :-(

I ended up doing a factory reset on mine, and it fixed the problem for a couple weeks. Then sure enough about a week ago it started back up.

I don't want to go through the hassle of another factory reset again, so I changed my wifi settings to 'never turn off wifi'. It really doesn't drain the battery much faster, if at all. I was hoping this would have been one of the bug fixes included in this last little update from Samsung, but unfortunately it wasn't...

So it's a work around for me for now.
