Bag of leaves gave the clearest explanation....when setting up the connection (entering the password), tap the checkbox for "Show advanced options", under "IP settings" tap the pull-down (default is "DHCP") and select "Static", then the options will appear. The options are: IP address, Gateway, Network prefix length, DNS 1, and DNS 2. DNS 1 default is 8.8.8.8 and DNS 2 default is 8.8.4.4.

Hi, I had the same problem. Bought S7, Wifi works but cant use play store and Youtube App at work. but worked fine at home.
I called my serivce provider (rogers) and they fixed it by disabling Voice over LTE . apparently this new technology is interrupting signals.worked for me.

I just bought a samsung s7 and had the same issue of certain apps being very slow on wifi with huge delay in loading images. I can confirm that for me disabling voice over lte fixes the issue. I have reproduced the problem and toggled the volte setting dozens of times and each time I can reproduce and fix the problem by disabling.

Go to settings, then Apps, YouTube and then there is a switch to disable WiFi.
Sometimes this automatically turns on when it updates.

Its stupid but you get an easy fix.

I have been searching for months how to fix my youtube app because it did not work over wifi.
I have a oneplus 3 with android 7.1.1. In the settings->apps->youtube there is a menu called " Data Usage " inside this menu there is a button " Disabled wifi " which turns off the wifi connection for that app.

So frustrating... At least the app or android could pop up a notification about this....
