I'm missing something (probably a short between the earphone cups) my XL seems to be shutting off WiFi on it's own. What setting should I be checking that defines this "feature"?

Huh, interesting. I just got the Android update to 8.0.0. After the install completed WiFi is behaving as I expect it to. Maybe the OS download was turning off WiFi for some reason???

If you go to wifi settings, advanced, you will have the option to toggle turn on wifi automatically when in close range of good trusted network.. maybe that is causing it...

When I noticed WiFi was off I tried every setting I could find, including the one you mentioned but nothing fixed it until I saw the "Updated to Android 8.0.0" message. Since then, 2 days, WiFi has been behaving. Strange. I didn't see any notice before the update came down. During the turmoil I saw the display switch to a black background, a "UI has failed to respond" message and a couple other wierdness's.
