wifi radio turns off on its own

My wifi turns off every so often. ( not just disconnect from wifi connection but the entire wifi feature is turned off). seems to happen even when connected to charger 100% , high charge, low charge, connected to wifi currently. Repros when i wake up phone from sleep does not seem to turn off when using it actively.

I double checked wifi is always on on sleep and was not able to find any settings for wifi timers that other google results suggest on this phone. Help pls.

If you are running Marshmallow, I'm pretty sure Wi-Fi turns off whenever the phone is dozing (defined as sitting still for 30 minutes or more).

att has an app that toggles wifi on and off to save battery, do you have some wifi app running.

There is also a setting in Settings->Wifi->Advanced Wifi-> Keep Wi-Fi on when screen is off... The wifi might be turning itself off when the screen is off.

EDIT: Also another possibility is that you have some My Places settings activated where wifi only turns on while at home or at work.

I'm also having issues with keeping wifi connected while at home. Today I got this message about my connection, even though when I went into wifi from settings it showed an excellent connection.

Modern routers come with have some sort of beam forming technology meaning that the wifi can literally extend it's range when required for connectivity. If you have multiple users this won't work and your reception might be below what is acceptable for your phone.

5-2017 and the problem persists. This is costing me money! because the phone connects to paid 4G service!!
