Wifi sleep issues...

Ok I got a DX for my daughter to use as a non activated device. But even with "Never sleep," and "all day" set as the time, (even a custom time), wifi keeps cutting off. The most i can get is 15 minutes or so. It seems this is an issue with various droids all the way up to the current Razr. It losea connection and/or login information. Is there any way (hack,util,etc) to make wifi on the droid x stay ON all the time (since settings apparently it's don't work)? It's running stock 2.3.4.
