OK I searched and could not find the answer so please forgive me if I missed it.:o

I have connected both at home and work, at least i think i have connected, it says it is connected to the "******".

I go to try to use anything that requires an internet connection and i get nothing, if i go to the browser and try to go to a web page, I enter the page and then it tells me "web page not available: with the little progress bar just a tad bit green, while it is trying.

I have turned of the mobile network thinking I read something that having that and wifi on cause an issue but i am not even sure if that is true. I have tried it with it on with it off etc..... Nothing

I looked at the settings on the router and see nothing that would stop it, I have connected multiple laptops and even a few pda's with no problem.

So I am thinking it is something I'm missing on the evo since this happens both at home and work.....

Thanks for any help :)

You're not alone, I've had this exact same issue. I seem to be getting a wifi signal but data won't download. Usually when this happens I turn wifi off and it works fine over 3G.

I've also noticed it only happens occasionally. Last incident being a few days ago, everything seems to be working fine since.

My wife's EVO had this issue, changing radios didn't help, but I shut down and restarted and it seemed to clean up the issue.

yeah i turn off 3g and nothing have done a soft reset (battery pull) etc and still nothing show a great signal but it wont connect......

Can you verify the Evo is actually getting an IP address?

Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> WiFi -> tap the connection

Start there. It's possible to connect to a router but have the handshake fail and the device doesn't receive an IP address and thus can't reach the internet. I saw this before with my Pre because for whatever reason, they didn't include any error messages for WiFi with the Pre that stated any problems like a Windows laptop will pop up if you connect but can't transfer anything. If it connected to the router, it assumed everything was fine I guess. Maybe the Evo is the same way.

Wow I'm having this same issue. I searched everywhere and this seems to be the only thread I can find addressing it.

Earlier I was downloading from AppBrain, thinking if I enabled the WiFi my downloads my go faster. I quickly found that enabling it causes the WiFi and 3g connections not to work. Can't go to the net, update weather, etc.

Mine is also showing as connected (although barely it seems) with an IP address. I don't know much about these things so I'm wondering if this is hardware or software. Maybe the bug fix scheduled for the 28th will help?

While I'm sorry to see this is a problem- I'm GLAD I'm not the only one! I've been going CRAZY this week over this issue.

Mind you - there are posts about Yahoo mail not syncing over wifi- not sure what the heck THATS about... but regardless I'm having this wifi data issue too. Reboots aren't fixing this.

I'm wondering if it's some app killer or power saving app so I uninstalled launcher pro, multitask manager, and Juice Plotter's power saving program forget the name and I can't confirm it because of below:

I also have a seriously gimped 3G data connection at work this week- (despite full bars) and this was not a problem in previous weeks. I can't access the android marketplace as a result.

I have not rooted - ever. If this continues- I may jump ship - reliable data is my #1 concern and I've never had these problems with my pre.

it is not one i recognize but yes it is getting an address......???????

That sounds like a problem there. Do you have DHCP at like 192.168.1.100 and up?

I would say configure the connection with a static IP, but I can't find where to do that.

2 or more hours later with a static ip and it connects at home, now what happens when i go to work if i have to enter a static ip there will it know which connection uses what ip........ there was a save option and i did but don't know what it really did......

Any updates on this from others experiencing this problem. No luck on this end, I suppose I'm just biding my time until I head back to RS.

mine is doing this right now, but it is showing an IP address. It seems to either
a) not working at all
b) working but very slow

Mine is not working as well, I have an IP address but still shows web page unavailable. Can not connect at all using Wi-Fi.

Did anyone get a solution on this? It's happening to me too on two different n routers. Strong signal, internet works at first, then a few minutes later...nothing.

I've been using the evo for months on a standard G verizon fios router with zero problems. It only seems to happen when I visit my in-laws with the n routers.

If I disable wifi then rstart up again, it's fine for a few minutes again.

I have been having the same problem with this. I think it has to do with N routers with AES encryption only.

I have an N router at home with WPA2- Personal Mixed security at home and I have no problem. At work, we just configured a new network and it is N with WPA2-Personal. TKIP is not and option on this network and I have been having problems with this since.

If anyone could confirm this it would be a big help.

I'll try and see if the AES causes the problem. I'm setting up a n router at home and will try both tkip and AES.

This is still a problem. Behind a firewall that has WPA2 personal with TKIP + AES encryption, I only get to the google home page. Also, browsing by dotted-quad does not work. At home, this bricks my sons Toshiba Thrive!
