WiFi will not reconnect to a known site

Anyone else have issues with the WiFi refusing to automatically reconnect to a known site?

This used to work on my N1 (not rooted), but now I am forced to turn the WiFi off and back on again in order to get it to connect. The connection is held if the phone goes to sleep, but if I leave the area and come back - no re-connect. If I look at the status of the WiFi it says it's "scanning". All the sites in question use WPA-PSK.
I have rebooted many times and even tried installing an app (WiFi Fixer) and at times it seems to help, but not always.

Well, I guess I can always hope that 2.2 fixes this.

Pop airplane mode on, then off. Usually fixes it, unless the problem is in the router.

A lot of this funkyness depends on your router. Some are just nasty. I have a cheap AP arriving any day to replace my netgear which has to be rebooted at least once a day.
One iPhone walking in the door can knock everyone else off the network. Some routers can be pretty fussy.

Given a choice you should always use WPA2 instead of wpa.

Well, turning of WiFi and back on again fixes it. Either way, I have to initiate something to get the darn thing reconnected.

I know it's not a flakey AP, as this happens with all 5 of the WiFi connections it has "made and stored". These range from different models of Netgear, D-Link and Linksys routers.

The reconnect used to work normally. But I noticed about 3 weeks ago that it refused to recognize when a know AP was available. I suppose a program I installed may have messed something up??

I was just wondering if any other N1 users were having this issue?

I'm having the same issue with my AT&T N1. Router type doesn't seem to matter at all (old Linksys, brand new Netgear & Apple Airport). My other devices work just fine with these routers.

Reconnection problem - fixed (kind of)

So, after several weeks of my N1 not being able to re-connect to a known AP, I got it working again.
The first step is to post a message in a forum (such as the one above) complaining of this issue.
Then voila - the problem goes away. I think my N1 is reading these forums ;)

Seriously, since posting this, the WiFi has been working flawlessly - go figure.
