Alright, Here's yet another 'Initial thoughts' thread. Picked up my Xoom yesterday and played with it for some time. Was able to tether it to my DX very easily.

This is my first ever tablet after owning Android phones for since Droid came out. Xoom is very well built and the screen is very nice looking. The system is very responsive. I did not see any lag what so ever. The apps that have been optimized for tablets do look very nice. CNN has a very cool app for tablets. I like the positining of on/off switch which is tucked in back.

Initially I was like WHAT!! no buttons for menu/back/settings?? But there are soft buttons that appear and disappear as needed. Take a few minutes to get used to but they are not bad at all.

I set the screen to auto brightness and have been pleased with battery life. After using Xoom for sometime, now my Droid X feels like a tiny device. :)

Wishlist :

1. User account: This is a personal device so it belongs to one person. Once you get in, the email, facebook, contacts & everything belongs to that person only. I wish there was a way to 'switch user' and create a second profile for another family member.

2. I know that weight of Xoom is comparable with other tablets but it just feel too heavy. You cannot hold it for a long time. You will need to rest it on your lap or somewhere. I wish it was lighter than this.

3. I wish Motorola used a USB style charger for this device. Most of us have plenty of those lying around. Here they introduced a new charger so if you need a second charger for work, you will have to buy it. Also, if you are travelling you are stuck with yet another charger!

That's it for now. Will update this as I play more with Xoom.

For now, Xoom Xoom Xoom ........................ :)

I agree on the profile wishlist. Multiple people use mine too, would be great if you could have profiles so you could switch b/t users.. gingerbread sort of has this already, so it should come to honeycomb.

The problem with this is USB ports don't output enough power to charge a battery of that size unless you have the lastest and greatest USB (3.0?) ports. Lame, but understandable since most people don't have these on their machines

I doubt you will see the multiple profile. Trying to think back to Windows, each profile will take up space, depending on how much it plans to store.

I wasn't talking about Charging Xoom from a PC's USB port. I was talking about USB style AC charger like the ones used on Droid and Droid X. That way one could use same charger for cell phone and tablet when travelling. It's a small thing but I wish it was that way. I am sure MOT has a reason to not do it that way.

My biggest thing is the multiple user profiles. I hope something is in the works for that.

If there is, there might be from 3rd party as add on in terms of launcher changes? Maybe SPB mgiht release one?
