Wifi

I know at work we had this issue - no one that had an Android could log into Google servers, we'd connect to the router, but no data tranfer. IT finally looked into it and it was a router setting that Android requires and IOS doesn't.

It's funny you say that because at work with the D-link router, everyone in the office with an iPhone (literally EVERYONE else but me) has no problem connecting. Mine will randomly one day decide to connect after about a week or 2. Maybe something to do with authenticating or varification?

I've found a solution for me. My d link was broadcasting 802.11n WPA2 encryption. I switched to 802.11g WEP and sure enough I connect with no issues and connection is stable. Router may need a firmware update to support these newer radios in these high end devices, but this works for now. Thanks for the help all.

I changed my wifi security settings from WPA/WPA2 to WEP and I can now use wifi on my device. I assume the G2 is not compatible with the security setting.

The wireless security I'm having is WPA/WPA2

I also am connected to my wifi, but have no access.

That is why I asked that question above. Some newer devices and OS have shown that they do not play well with weaker encryption methods. Trying something more secure (WEP) could make all the difference.

glad I found this thread.. I too have a dlink 655 and had similar problems - open or wep would work, wpa would not. Went to dlink and upgraded to the latest firmware..

D-Link | Wireless N300 Gigabit Router (DIR-655) (mine is a REV A)

and all is good now.. Ironically, the release notes say " Improved compatibility issue with Samsung Galaxy S4
6/11/2013 "

BINGO. I had the dame problem. Went to the new (S4) firmware update. I think my problem is now solved. Been connected now on WiFi for over six hours with no disconnects.

I joined this forum to share what all I had to do to get my LG G2 (Verizon) to connect to our router. We have an old DLink router but I refused to accept it wouldn't connect. My husband amd I got the phones at the exact same time and for some reason his would connect to the WiFi at our house and mine wouldn't. Both phones would connect to WiFi networks elsewhere.

I'm an absolute knob when it comes to technology so reading a few forums I troubleshooted some settings and found that if I changed the DLink settings to:

WPA Settings: WPA2 (only!)
Cipher: TKIP (only!)

I hope someone is saved some time with this.
