Will a Prime G5 Plus from the US work in the UK?

I live in the US and have a G5 Plus (Amazon Prime edition) that I'm using on Verizon. We're planning a trip to the UK in a few months, and I can't seem to find a direct answer to the question of whether my phone will work in the UK if we add a Verizon international plan.

I *think* it will, since it's an unlocked phone, and Motorola's marketing info says it works internationally. But Verizon claims it's not compatible; I suspect that's just because I didn't buy it from them and so they don't really have its specs in their system, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, can anybody verify that a stock G5 Plus from Amazon, on a Verizon international plan, works in the UK?

Or would I be better off just buying a SIM card when we get over there?

The phone itself will work on UK networks with 2G, 3G, and most likely HSPA, but LTE could be hit or miss.

Roaming is a whole different issue... Verizon may not support it where you are going to be, not allow it for your device, or who knows.

In Europe it is very common to just get a local SIM, most airports and shops have them... Cellular service outside of North America is very different than what you are used to from a business standpoint in most countries.
