Will all the networks meddling force Google's hand?

I can say that there needs to be something done. I like backup assistant without reservation, but for gods sakes, stub apps for blockbuster, madden, NFS?

And I know they can't block bing or they face anti-trust suits, but would it kill bing to at least make some decent software for cryin out loud?

I think the manufacturer mods should be the limit of modification without google approval. I like touchwiz, the same way some people like sense (which I think is stupid and makes the phone clumsy to use).

Will be interesting to see how google progresses. If they block manufacturer mods they're gonna lose manufacturers since they can't make their devices stand out against the competition.

I disagree... Look at the PC hardware market.. Nobody buys a Dell vs Toshiba vs... based on the fabulous software that was added to windows... They base it on Hardware specs and price..

Manufacturers should focus on hardware issues.. Battery tech.. Screens.. Cameras..Audio... whatever...Let Google handle software/ui

Totally agree. Look how many people replace the launchers with Launcher Pro and/or ADW. And there goes all the manufacturer customizations...

I love Android, but no one can deny it's becoming a total mess of fragmentation, and our phone is a perfect example - a current top of the line phone that's 2 versions behind, and you have other's stuck even further behind. I'm sure it's a headache for developers to have to build to, what, 5 different OS versions now?

It's a tricky issue for all involved, because it is effecting the platform as a whole. So I'm willing to cut Google some slack for what appears to be some heavy-handedness recently.

I hope this doesnt happen, because then we are all going to have Iphones

that would be unfortunate... but the good thing about the iphones are that they don't have all this bloatware on their phones that AT&T puts on there. luckily we can remove the bloatware on android via rooting and custom roms and that's really the saving grace of android OS.
