Since the N1 is now officially out for at&t as an unlocked device (WOOT!!!!) my question is will at&t cripple it like how they did with the (POS) backflip?

Now for the people that ordered and received there Unlocked Nexus One (AT&T) have you noticed anything with 3rd party apps or the android market, is anything being blocked, if so which apps are blocked?

It's not being sold by ATT therefore they have NO control over what the device can or can't do. It's just able to run on there network.

I have purchased the N1 and have been using it for a day now and AT&T has not touched this device in anyway. The phone is amazin with no sign of AT&T brading at all (except for the network text).

Did you just take it to an At&t store and sign up for one of their voice/data plans sans contract?

I still have a year on AT&T contract (with iPhone) but am seriously considering switching as long as I can just change over to the N1 w/o penalty which I would assume I could but am not certain.

You should be able to just take your sim and slap it in the N1 and have it work just fine. No reason to call ATT unless you start having issues. I have no issues with my Edge only version (The unlocked Tmobile one) running on ATT since its release.

Wow... ordered yesterday and it wasn't even processed today! :(

I agree with everyone else.

Thanks. That's what I was hoping to hear.

AT&T has nothing to do with the Nexus One. They can't cripple it cause its sold by Google. The only thing AT&T can do it prevent people from bringing phones to their network.

I don't really think they can prevent you from running a phone on thier network. I know plenty of people that run BB storms on att. You just wont have any support from them. They wont support non att phones but can't prevent you from running on the network.

since the Nexus One is sold directly by Google, AT&T has ZERO say on its content... absolutely no corruption whatsoever from the carrier... that's the beauty of Google's approach... cut out the carrier... they just eff up things anyways... I look forward to more devices being sold the Google way... hopefully this starts a mini revolution... i'm tired of having crappy apps and software preinstalled by the carriers... all of them do it...

AT&T Has tried to block some apps. I have a Nexus One and the only way to download PdaNet for tethering was to remove the AT&T sim card and use wi-fi. They like to put up roadblocks. With the sim in, the PdaNet app did not show up in the app store.

This kind of thing, along with what they did to the Motorola Backflip was the straw that broke the camels back for me in terms of switching to Verizon - better coverage nationwide being the majority of my reason. ATT Obviously does not get Android, or wants to make sure they keep people herding towards their beloved iPhone.

You never know if they have a deal with (or sucking up to) Apple, their reasoning for doing this. In AT&T's shoes, I'd choose the 4th gen iPhone before any device, including the Supersonic that was announced. Why? Because it's a gold mind for AT&T. Verizon posted a loss in one quarter. AT&T? They have not seen one since 2007, when the original iPhone was released. Not saying the iPhone is the best, but no matter how you slice it, Apple = $$$$. iPoop would sell 1million in the first weekend.

It's actually a google thing I hear. The Android Marketplace does not recognize the AT&T N1 build number so it doesn't present the PDANet and several other apps to you. They're working on fixing.

I am not an at&t Mobility fan by any means, but their service is decent.

For a long while last year things were pretty bad, but since then I have seen an improvement in speed and overall network availability.

I will openly admit that at least network health/breath-wise Verizon Wireless is pretty impressive.
