Will Blur ever be updated?

Probably not. Blur is blur for Motorola. You see what you get. However with new versions of Android you might see some slight updates to blur.

I actually hope blur dies in a fire. :) Hope that helped!

Only with new OS will they update it. It's part of the OS may be gingerbread will have some tweeks

I would imagine it'll get updated with any OTA update if there is a problem or they decide to add new functionality but I don't think you are going to see a completely new look or anything.

Blur is Motorola's branding of Android, just like HTC has Sense and Samsung has TouchWiz.

They are invested in that look, for better or worse (worse). It's ugly and slow...AOSP FTW.

Its to bad that Motorola thinks that blur is a good way to stand our from the crowd with Android. They would do so much better with stock Android and their build quality which excellent. They also seem better at experimenting with different form factors than other manufacturers.

I think sense is awful. I actually prefer blur.

Honestly though ... they are all crap. I wish google forced a stock policy option.

I think they are all pretty bad, but sense is the best. It's a little annoying how they try to make everything so "beautiful". The stock wallpaper is really "pretty" blurred lights. Gag.

Blur is really gross, though. The widgets are filthy. Root and get rid of it. It's like a whole new phone.

or use the apex rom. lots of blur removed to speed up the phone, but still a few blur elements remain. lots of people, for example, prefer the blur camera app to the aosp one. blur messaging also works well for me (ymmv). the aosp gallery is certainly better, but i keep the blur gallery as well because it allows me to edit (resize, clip) my videos such that i can send them from the phone via email. customization is the beauty of os's like android.

When I started using a custom rom I was really surprised to see how much blur did slow things down.

I had already frozen a lot of stuff that I didn't need but I did notice a big difference once I loaded my first ROM. Truth is they all seem fast next to the stock, Motorola version of DX

I don't have a problem with Motorola blue. It seems fine to me. I actuality like the calendar application. I also use Launcher Pro which makes life good.

I don't have a problem either and it seems to get much better every time a new device is released....so the Bionic should be an overall improvement.

Blur sucks. It's the worst UI on Android imo.

Once I rooted my X and installed vanilla roms, all was better. I'll never buy another Blur device unless it can run custom roms.

Blur isn't what I'd call a unified app, it seems to be a bunch of widgets tied together randomly and called a launcher. There is no flow and it's industrial. At last Sense has a unified look and feel. That said I rather enjoy vanilla Android.

To answer the OP's question, yes Blur will evolve. It may not change much for the X, but from device to device it will change.

My only issue with blur is the speed of the home screen. It's so slow and laggy, even on my droid x. As soon as i install a third party launcher swiping screens is twice as fast.
