Will CM 7.1.1 work fine with MR3 radio?

I recently rooted my TB and looking into installing CM 7.1.1 on it. But in my Rom Manager app it mentions "MR2 and MR2.5 only" under CM. I have my stock rom and radio still (MR3). Do I have to downgrade my radio or has anyone tried CM7.1.1 with MR3? If so, any speed or connectivity issues?

PS: noob here :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I was looking for official CM7.1.1 since it'll be support by CM. Also, I wanna be able to overclock and not sure if thundershed would let me. That's why I was looking at CM but didn't wanna downgrade my radio.
I don't know if the new MR3 radio has any enhancement over MR2/2.5 but just don't want to loose data speeds and reliable connection, hence skeptical.

Any other suggestions you may have? :)

Yes, I think you'll be fine flashing 7.1.1 with the MR3 radio. I haven't tried it personally, but I have read about others trying it without problem. Also, believe it or not, you'll probably get better support using ThunderShed, JellyBlur, or sfk's ICS/JB than you will from CM. Those devs are great, and having used all 3 of those ROMs, I can assure you that you'll have very few, if any, issues.
If you do go with 7.1.1, I think you'll also have to flash google apps as well. Let us know if you have any questions and good luck.

Thnx for quick responses. I'll give ThunderShed a try. ***BUT*** same question, will it work fine with MR3?

I am liking this forum already :)

It won't be a problem. Just load it onto your sd card and flash away. You also have to flash his gapps for this ROM.

From my understanding there is no OFFICIAL CM7.X.X so, your best bet is to run Thundershed 1.6 or Jelly BLur (by SFK). Those are the 2 most popular ones people are flashing to these days.

I am flashing about once a day sometimes all different ROMS. I keep going back to I-Kream..it is a SENSE ROM. I don't have the patient to set up my homecreen with CM7 (Go Launcher)...I know once I do, I won't go back to SENSE.

Whoa... After using an oem gingerbread launcher, I realized how much I liked sense (besides its lagging). I know the only reason I chose an HTC android was the way it looked, much better than Samsung's touchwiz. I think I need to try a sense Rom. What about a good stable sense 3/3.5 Rom guys? Ive seen iKream but had lots of issue listed in the thread. Any suggestions??? :)

It's old but works perfectly. BAMF Forever 1.09 or 1.11. 1.10 had some slowness.

I've been running it since December and it just works. I had to do the sense 2 for the call answer bug but other than that, worked great out of the box.

I agree with BAMF Forever 1.11; I'm running it right now with the RedHot theme. If you want to eliminate some lag, you can overclock it. Just bump the minimum up to 368, the maximum up to 1280, and even change the Governor to "performance". This might use more battery depending on what you're doing with your phone (if you're watching Netflix, it'll use a lot more than if you're just making calls and surfing the web), but you won't notice much lag. But if you pick up an app like SetCPU, you can do this with just about any ROM provided the ROM allows it.

I've had no problems with ThunderStick Full Blown 1.1.1 either, and it actually seems to have less lag than Forever on the stock settings. If I want to use a 3.5 ROM, I like BAMF SoaB, but I'd give Infected Eternity a try also to see which one you like better.

Ok guys. I finally followed the instructions and installed Thundershed 1.6 However, my phone keeps rebooting every 10 secs or so. I can't even go through the initial bootup. by the time I am done signing into my gmail and click next, it restarts. What is going on? I did not find people going through this issue. :( I also wiped cache, factory reset, Dalvik.

Did i miss something?

I had something similar happen to me on a different ROM, but after a few wipes and re-installing it, everything worked fine. Pull the battery for a bit and then hold down the power button and the down volume button until the phone comes on. When it lets you, boot into recovery. Do a factory/data wipe, a cache wipe, and a Dalvik cache wipe; and then do it one more time for good measure. Choose install zip from sd and install the ROM. Reboot. Skip past the set-up process for now and reboot back into Recovery. Install the gapps zip and reboot. Skip the set-up again, reboot back into recovery, flash the Gtalk zip, and reboot. Skip set-up, reboot into recovery and flash the agps patch zip. Reboot and set your phone up. If you run into a problem after that, let me know, but you should be good to go.

It might. I was going off of memory, and I always flash the agps fix when I flash an AOSP ROM. Have you gotten it to work or is it still rebooting?

Edit: You are absolutely right. It is included in the ROM.

Yes. It's still rebooting on its own. According to the second point on the page i sent, it says "added kernel & other tweaks from theMicheal's tweak page & SubwayJrd (thanks guys!) NOTE: if you have issues with this, you can delete 02sysfsTshed from system/etc/init.d and reboot. You can also use an editor and remove everything in Sysctl.conf so it's empty and then save, reboot. Some of the tweaks aren't fulling working yet due to permissions."
I can't even get that far before the phone reboots. Do you think the kernel is messed up?

Not sure, but I didn't have this problem with Thundershed. It just fired right up for me.

I'd probably try another ROM. Nickxxsfk has a stock CM7.2 ROM and an ICS/JB themed one that I like. See if either of those will load up for you, and I think you'll be happy with them. And just so you know, all of the CM based ROMs have little quirks to them, but those quirks can be overcome if you are determined enough.

Thanks 'mightyfacundo'... :)

Nickxxsfk seems to work just fine so far. How can i get my apps back? It didn't download my apps from Google Play or Amazon App Store. Do I have to re-download them?

Unfortunately you're gonna have to load them back manually. If you have access to your computer, it's faster and easier to load them from the online Play Store. Then, for the future, I'd recommend buying an app like RomToolBox Pro which can backup your apps and data which makes restoring everything super easy.
