Will Echo Auto work with something other than the radio to hear it?

Android Central Question

Just got it and it appears that it has no speaker of its own.
It appears that they intend you to use your radio for the speaker.

My radio does not have bluetooth. It appears that the only connection possible is via the aux connection but if I use that, I cannot use the radio to play a station.
Do radios with bluetooth allow you to play a local station and be interrupted by the Echo when it needs to send audio?

Can the Echo be set to play via my phone speaker? Not great but better than nothing.

I suppose that I could use some sort of powered speaker but that would start to look like a rats nest with the Echo, phone, and extra speaker.

Many don't - you have to play the radio through the phone, which you cn't do with an Echo. Some - I know a few of the factory-installed Honda radios do monitor Bluetooth while the radio is playing, but my Kenwood doesn't.

Not unless you add a Bluetooth adapter, plugged into the Aux jack. (An audio-to-radio adapter wouldn't work because you'd have to be tuned into the adapter's frequency, not to the station you want to listen to.)
