Will Evo 3D have netflix?

I was all to happy to finally get Netflix on the og Evo only for it to be short lived. Yet that got me wondering will we get Netflix baked into the new sense?

Unless Netflix gets a exclusivity contract with one carrier, I would have to say yes. The Evo 3d has the Snapdragon processor approved for streaming by netflix, and Netflix will probably want their app on as many phones as possible which makes me believe they don't want an exclusivity contract with just one carrier. Blockbuster on the other hand is on it's last leg, and for them, the contract with Sprint and the Evo 3d might help them gain subscribers.

But what do I know, it's all ruled by corporate rules, not common sense.

what about netflix on the evo 4g? I can upgrade in 6 days and I'm still trying to decide on whether to get the evo 4g or the 3vo 3d.

the Evo may not have support since it doesn't have the required proccessor that the Evo 3d has which adds the DRM capabilities required by Netflix

Its probably not coming to the regulat Evo 4G - at least not officially. The Evo 4G has an older processor, which doesn't have the required DRM requirements built in like the newer ones do.

That being said, this puts Netflix into a bit of a pickle. The Evo 4G is the best selling Android phone. It'll probably come preloaded on new devices rather than being widely available on the app market. That being said, sadly, I doubt it will come ti the Evo 3d becaise it would be in direct competition with the blockbuster app that's preloaded on evos and evo 4g.

Why wouldn't it? Do you think Netflix is gonna say "Aww, shucks, Blockbuster is already on the Evo 3d, I guess we can't get out app on it?" I doubt it! Besides, if they just release it to the market with only the phones with the proper processor being able to see it in the market, then this really wouldn't be an issue. Besides, they could just put the app into the market for every android device to see, all they have to say is that only supported phones will be able to use the streaming feature, all others can only use it to manage their queue.

Well imho I think it will.Remember MWC...qualcomm announced a partnership with netflix. So I'm sure that would mean all compatible hardware will get the chance to use it.

I'd wait if I were you. The Evo is a great phone still, but really, you are buying last years technology if you get it now. Especially seeing that Sprint is still selling the Evo at same price as it did when it was launched.

The evo 3 d will stream netflix if Sprint wants it to. The snapdragon 8660 chipset can have DRM libraries added as an option if the buyer wants them added. If Sprint does not add the DRM libraries, no netflix

yep, this has me worried that there might be some kind of deal with blockbuster that might block netflix and bust my plans to get the e3d.

As much as I love Netflix, if the EVO 3D doesn't have it and I wanted this phone before I found out about it that wouldn't make me change my mind.

This phone is still IMHO the best one coming out that we've heard about.

you can go to best buy and upgrade now and just get the buy back on your evo 4g and when the 3d come out return your evo to best buy!

I'm watching Futurama through Netflix on my Evo 4G as we speak, so I can't see why it wouldn't be on the new Evo :-)

I'm new to this forum and want to add my two cents regarding Netflix and the Evo platforms. In May I upgraded to the Evo 4G from the Hero. I have never fallen in love with anything technological before...until Evo 4G. I then found out that the Evo was going to be released in 3D, so I returned my 4G and just picked up my 3D a few days ago. (Luckily I was within the 30 day return period.) As odd as this may sound, given the advancements in the 4G, I'm unable to download the Netflix app on my 3D, but I was able to download it on the 4G from the Android Market...and use it without any issues at all.

Aside from this issue, I can say that the 3D is all it was hyped up to be and then some. And yes, I've fallen in love....again.

This isn't odd at all, the Netflix app in the market is set up to only show up in the market for devices that Netflix deems it compatible with. This is not compatibility as in hardware for playback, but hardware to support their Digital Rights Management (DRM).

Netflix will likely be releasing the official app to the EVO 3D in the future (it is a brand new phone) and in the meantime, there are other ways to get Netflix working on this device.
