Will EVO charger fry an Epic 4G?

An EVO charger is 1 amp.
I think the epic 4g charger is .75 amp.

Any way to get an epic 4g to charge faster?

The blackberry is looking mighty good right now (at least from a battery perspective).

That would help make it charge faster... not sure about any damage (doubt it, may get a little warm).

If it wouldn't harm it, then why wouldn't samsung use the 1amp charger. Everyone likes a faster charge.

My evo charges pretty fast with the 1 amp charger; that wasn't on my radar as a requirement for my epic user - he's not happy with the battery situation.

Nope. I have used anything from an LG lotus charger to a palm pre charger to a samsung moment charger and no ill effects.

If it heats up the battery more, it could potentially shorten the lifespan of the battery. Not sure if it would be to any significant amount, but it's something to consider.

Yeah the epic charger is SLOW. I buy a new phone every year, sometimes twice a year, so I don't care about battery damage. Where's the 2 amp charger?

As long as the damage is only to the battery and a new OEM battery is $30 what does it matter. Unless the 1 amp charger kills a battery in a month or two then it really isn't an issue. Unless you hate spending money on batteries. Or other things that shouldn't wear out prematurely due to increased user demand. Ladies. Etc.

I'm using my old HTC Touch Pro charger to charge my Epic. It puts out 1 Amp (compared to the measly 0.7 amps the Epic charger puts out.) I think it should be safe to charge with a 1 amp charger. The general rule is that the charging current should not exceed 1C rating of the battery. Since the Epic battery is rated at 1500 mAh, it should be able to handle a maximum charge current of 1.5 Amps. (I'm extrapolating from my experience with charging lithium polymer batteries for remote control electric airplanes.) Either way, it would be wise to monitor the battery if you are going to charge it at a higher current (with a non Epic charger). If the battery gets hot during charging, I would pull it off the charger ASAP.

i doubt it will damage the phone at all. i think it would just charge the phone faster. but if it did damage your phone in anyway, i bet that sprint would swap it out for a new phone, becuase they wouldnt be able to tell it was from using a 1amp charger compared to the stock .75. Hey look at the bright side. A NEW EPIC!!!

Generally speaking most USB chargers can be used cross-device without any issues. I'm still using a Motorola Car charger from my original Droid to charge my Fascinate in my vehicle, absolutely no issues with it.

It wont charge faster, I don't think the charger size matters at all unless the charger is UNDER SIZED then it will just charge slower. The reason a charger would be bigger is because the phones draw is higher not the other way around. The EVO must draw more power when charging hence the bigger capacity charger. This also keeps the charger from over heating when the phone is charging. The charger does not push power to the phone, the phone draws power from the charger. The phone can only draw a specific amount of current from the charging source as set by the manufacturer. As of January first 2011 all new cell phones will be equipped with the micro USB charging port. The cell phone industry came together and set a common charging standard for all phones to eliminate waste so all phones now can use one common charger or cord regardless of brand.

I know with my palm pre it had a 1amp Charger but never charged higher than 600 mah. Phone is using some of the charger output.
