I have purchased LG G4 from T-Mobile USA paying in full. Will this mobile work in India? I found on the internet that there is GSM/LTE band difference between USA and India. as per T-Mobile web site my G4 supports the following bands,

Quad Band GSM; LTE: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12; UMTS: Band I (2100), Band II (1900), Band IV (1700/2100), Band V (850)

What I found on internet is, in India the supported bands are,

GSM: 900, 1800, 3G 2100, 4G LTE 2300Mhz

I talked to LG support and T-Mobile support. Both are unsure if this phone will work in India.

Please help me finding this out.

If all you need are what is mentioned, then it should work on 2g/3g but you won't get LTE. And any carrier specific features might not work

You need to provide more info on the target network.

Oh sorry, I phrased my question wrong.

I understand that my LG G4 model (H811 - T-Mobile) will work in India on almost all the careers, and so do the Voice, Text and 3G. But my confusion was whether 4G LTE will work on my mobile in India. Just now I was searching on the internet about 4G in India and found out that currently only Airtel offers 4G LTE service and that is on band 40(2300 Mhz). I also checked Indian 4G spectrum maps for future 4G road map for all careers and found out that for all the careers the 4G band is going to be in the range of 2300-2390.

My phone does not support 2300 so I will return it. Now I am thinking of buying the Indian model LG G4 Dual-SIM H818N.

Thanks,
Anurag

Looks like the H818 is closest to what you need. Check out: http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g4/527756-lg-g4-models-cellular-frequencies.html
Always better to use the LTE band instead of the frequency.

What is the G4 model used in India? If you find it, post in the above thread and I'll update it.

Thanks Tardus for the useful link on frequencies!! In India the model is LG G4 Dual-SIM H818N.

In your link I can see for H810 AT&T the LTE2300 is on B30 (i.e. band 30) and not on B40. But in India the 2300 is on B40. So are you suggesting that 4G LTE will not work in India on this AT&T model and while looking for compatibility I should look for B40 and not for number 2300?

Do you think the 4G LTE / GSM will work on H815T model in both US and India? I am finding H815T on eBay. I prefer not to buy from eBay due to difficult return, restocking fee and warranty issues, but right now not seeing any other option.

I am going to be in the US for one more month and then going back to India for good. If I return my current T-Mobile G4 then I will be without any phone. So I need to buy a phone that works on US 4G LTE until I leave, and it should be India 4G LTE compatible also.

You should look for LTE frequency 2300, B40.
LTE 2300, B30 will NOT get LTE in India if India uses B40.

If you're only going to be in the US for one month, why worry about LTE here ?
You'll get 3G (HSPA+) speeds on AT&T and I assume T-Mobile.
I'm on AT&T and I get 10 ~ 13 mps on their 3G (HSPA+) network, which is plenty enough. I can do whatever I want, stream whatever I want with no buffering or any problems at that speed.

I just wanted to post my data points on the reverse situation.

I just took my previously-provisioned BB T-mobile SIM to the T-mobile-owned store and they provided me with a new SIM to use in an Indian-bought D-818N.

The calling plan was also changed to the $50 all-in plan.

However, the international BB plan was left untouched for now.

When I put the new SIM into my 818N, I was only able to get EDGE speeds on the G4.

Not sure if it was due to provisioning or due to frequencies used by T-mobile for 3G...almost sure that LTE would not work as the bands would be different.

In any case, was not even looking for LTE.connectivity, but was hoping that at least 3G would work!

When I replaced the SIM back into the (original T-mobile) BB, found 3G connection was working.

You should look for LTE frequency 2300, B40.

Yes it will work. 4G LTE works on Airtel and Idea. I have this H811 T-mobile and it works. Only thing is you need to configure APN manually. Anyway 3G works on all networks.
