So next year,i might sign up to be exchanged to a highschool in france(im in highschool and want to spend a semester or a year over there to study in french and make my french skills more solid for my senior year(Ive been taking french for 3 years and am currently in french 3 Honors ,so inna few years ill be trilingual :D )
Anywho,i've been reading that the At&t's s3 supports gsm networks, would i be able to just pop out my sim and insert a gsm carriers sim into my at&t s3 and have it function like normal.? (Obviously lte wont but thats not a problem) Anyfeed would be appreciated. :)

Sent from my S3(:

As long as it's unlocked but yes it should work on any gsm network but the speed may very. Good luck with your studies

Ermm,by unlocked you mean having to unlock it myself no.? Is the factory phone itself locked.?

You'll have to get the phone unlocked by the carrier so that it will work with other carriers overseas. Att locks their phones by default unless you bought it full price.

I got my AT&T Galaxy S3 unlocked after having it around 45 days but family has had AT&T Wireless for 13 years and used to have land line for 30 years so that could have something to do with it. To get it unlocked just live chat with AT&T online and give them IMEI of your S3. Then once they give the code to you put any Micro sim card that doesn't have any AT&T ties with it. I put in a T-Mobile USA sim card in then I typed in the code provided by the rep.

Of course, going to T-mobile would limit you to 2G speeds due to frequency differences, but it WOULD work.

Well yeah but he only did it to confirm that it was unlocked. When you go over seas you will have to look at the carriers and pick one that works with att phones.
