Will Pentile/qHD display affect you? Here's my experience

First off, I have 20/20 vision so take my experience for what its worth

Screen clearly is not as sharp as the iPhone4s display. I can spot pixelation from ~8 inches away where as for the iPhone4s, I had to get up to 2 to 3 inches and even then the pixelation was minor. Pixelation on a 4.3inch qHD screen can clearly been seen ONLY when you are looking for it. Through casual use, the screen is great.

I put One S side by side to iPhone4s and it blows the iPhone out of the water in terms of brightness and color. SuperAMOLED display is no joke, it is miles better than the iPhone4s IPS display. However the HTC One S screen may be too bright, which is why I don't use auto brightness, it is still too bright.

So to the pentile display, I can see the effects of it. It is especially noticeable during white spaces, on the edges of the white areas, you can see red colors leaking through. It is true that once you see it , you WILL NOT un see the effects but I don't find it particularly bothersome.

At a regular viewing distance, the mid range density qHD serves as a good screen, not the sharpest but never the less still a very good screen. Pentile effects can be seen if you are looking for it, if I'm not looking for it, pentile display doesn't affect me that much.

Overall 4.3 inch screen is a great size, superAMOLED is quite good, there is pixelation but that doesn't detract much from the overall benefits of the phone. I would recommend this phone any day.

I have 20/20 vision also. In fact I think I'm actually better in 1 eye. I don't see any pixelation. Keep in mind that I came over from WP7 so I was used to lower resolution but even then I only saw pixels on WP7 when I checked out a Titan.

IMO, I think you need the eyes of God to really see pixels, or you have the screen way to close to your face.

come from wp7 too and can find nothing wrong with the display. I don't have 20/20 vision but thru my varifocals it all looks great.

Maybe held up against a retina display it wouldnt, but i knew that it wasnt the same when i got the phone, as we all did.

It's most likely because I come from the iPhone4s which has a higher pixel density compared to the One S but generally, the display is great despite the lower pixel count.

Just loaded a Windows 7 launcher and I guess its the interface because I had to peer from 2 to 3 inches to see the pixels rather than 7 or 8 inches.

Yeah, it's noticeable, but only if you're looking for it. Since I don't do heavy movie watching, I am not bothered by Pentile. It isn't affecting my use or enjoyment of the phone. Although my Pre 3 has better resolution, I find for the most part I don't notice or pay attention to the slightly fuzzier edges of things.
