Will prices go down with the Nexus 8 likely coming out in April?

I am looking to get a Nexus. What is the likelihood the price will go down with the 8 probably coming out in April, I will not be able to just wait for the 8 since I will need a tablet for my vacation April 5.

You can usually find the n7 on sale for $199 somewhere every once in a while.

I would also imagine that it would be discounted even more as the n8 nears it's alleged debut, and certainly when it is finally out.

That's my dilemma. It is currently on sale for $199 for the 32GB. I will need to purchase by April 1st. So don't know if I should wait to see if it will go lower.

Don't bank on getting a 32gb model for less than $199. I would get it now for that price if I were you.

Did not realize that a new Nexus might be coming out ias soon as April.
Any guess (or rumors) as to how it would differ from Nexus 7 ?

My personal belief is I dont give rumors any weight unless I see them posted Offically by Android Central. To me An 8 inch to compete with apple is silly since the 7" tablets predate the iPad mini.

I also have reservations as to whether these rumors are true or not. You can already get an 8" tablet (developers edition) in the Play Store. Also, don't assume any potential 8" Nexus would be a replacement to the Nexus 7. If you need a tablet now, buy a table now.

Probably the best way to predict the pricing is to look at the first gen Nexus 7. At 1.5 years old, what is the price on a 32gb version? Of course, the 2nd gen has generally been about $30 more, so you have to figure that in. But we can only speculate.

Will the price drop more than it already has? Probably. When & how much? *shrug*

It makes me wonder though. Will it be called the Nexus 8? That means it would have to be 8" now. Or maybe they'll just come out with another version of the Nexus 7. Because I like the size of the nexus 7.

Yeah but then you print out the micro center page with the n7 for $199 and bring it to a best buy or staples for a price match.

That's what I did at Staples. The manager seemed annoyed to match prices but did so anyway.Saved $73 out the door.

So I tried price matching at Best Buy which was immediately turned down. According to my local Best Buy and the corporate person I spoke to they no longer price match Microcenter.com.

Tried my local Staples and they also wouldn't do it. Did a online chat and it got approved instantly. Problem is I only use Paypal which they do not accept, so no Nexus for me :(

Problem is I only use Paypal

I can understand why some would or would not use Paypal, but why only Paypal? How do you do regular shopping? You can't just walk into a store or restaurant and pay the check with Paypal......

I do not own a credit card anymore but have a Paypal account for online use linked to my bank account. As far as any shopping I do everything local with cash.

That sends a shiver up my spine when I think about the security issues. I never have more than $100 or so in PayPal. I don't trust it.

I never have more than a couple hundred in the account that's linked to paypal unless I just sold something and the buyer paid via paypal.
