Hey guys im a noob and cant figure out how to put music on my phone..please someone step by step help me ...thanks you guys are great!!!!

I havent done it without a memory card but without giving you the formal steps because I don't have the cable with me..

!) you connect your phone via USB to your PC
2) from the notification screen you mount your SD card
3) add music to the folder in my computer/sd card drive/music
4) unmount your sd card or unplug the phone and it will add the music

dude im still having problems ...i cant find "sd card drive" anywhere ...its ridiculous

As Hakoreh mentioned, you must do the following:

1)Connect your phone to pc using the USB cable which came with your phone.
2) on your phone, you will see a message in your notification screen which says - USB connected. This is what you need to select in order to put your phone into sync mode so that you can copy/delete files from it, which also sets it up as a "drive" on your pc. When you click on the notification, you will get a message which asks you to either select "Mount" or "Don't Mount", of course you want to select "Mount".
3) After performing step 2, you will then go to your computer and double click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. There, you should see a drive labeled - "Removable Disk". This is your phone/sd card.
4) Add music files in mp3 format to the "Music" folder on your phone/sd card.
5) When you are finished performing step 4, you must unplug your phone and/or unmount your phone/sd card by going back to the same option on the Notification screen.

Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem but when I realized what woodsb123 mentioned above, that you have to "Mount" it to the PC, it worked fine and I was able to transfer by drag & drop.

another easy way is to take the SD card out of the phone, put it in the SD slot of your computer (may need an adapter) and copy the music files to the card. then just pop the card back into the phone and play.

You may also want to look into the (desktop) application DoubleTwist, which is an iTunes-like app that will recognize the Eris when you plug it in and activate the USB mounting and allow you to copy music over. If you have music in iTunes already, it will also allow you to copy over iTunes playlists. You cannot play any DRM protected music on the Eris, but anything with DRM should be pretty easy to move over.

thanks alot guys..lol now im trying to figure out how to take my limewire music and put it there..lol...anyone got any suggestions...sorry to be a pain..im just a country boy from alabama trying to work a Big city phone ..hahahahahahahaha ROLL TIDE

go to the folder you download your limewire music to and copy or move it to the music folder on the sd card. dont know what your folder is? open options in limewire and should be right in front of you

Doubletwist is THE BEST WAY to get music into your phone. Hands down, forget all the stuff these other guys have said, this is your ticket.

Thanks alot for the help guys..i DL double twist..one question...i have all my music and vids ready to sync and i clicked sync and man it is taking a long time..is that normal...im just used to ipods and such that take like 30 secs....but on the flip side i am sync 800 songs

I personally hate iTunes crapware. So, being a nerd I just Mount the SD card and load up whatever I want the tech way. Transfer only the files I want and not my entire list of 20k+ songs (they really need to make 200GB SD cards =-).

out of curiosity I did install Doubletwist, looks good if your a newbie or someone who doesn't like to fuss around with file folders. Note you do have to activate an account with doubleTwist, and you do have an option to select the specific music you want to sync.

If you're syncing 800 songs, for the first time, it probably will take a long time to transfer everything over. Subsequent syncs should go a lot faster.

On a separate note, for those of you who are trying doubleTwist, you might be interested in their FAQ page.

Check out the stickied FAQ if you haven't already :)

Why doesn't the Droid have a video player/play my video files?
The video player is in the gallery. You have to open the gallery and the folder with your video. Only videos encoded in MPEG-4/H.264 (.mp4) will play, and it shouldn't be larger than 854x480-ish or your phone might stutter or crash.

I'm another country boy but from South Carolina, and I had no problem mounting the phone to my laptop via the USB cable. Just pulled down the Notifications window after I connected, pressed the USB option, and selected Mount. Then I opened up the location on my PC and went to the Media folder and dragged & dropped my Limewire music into it. All of it was legally acquired, of course. Go Tigers! ;)

Ok, please dont flame on me here, as I have searched for an answer, without much luck...

I'm new to this forum, after owning and using a Blackberry for quite some time, and realizing that these types of forums are great for people needing and/or giving help to other users.

I just got my Eris and trying to find a quick way to transfer my music off my Mac computer onto my Micro-SD card on my phone. I had tons of songs and pictures on my Blackberry, and it was very easy to transfer anything off my computer onto my phone, using my (mico) USB cord. I'm assuming that I can do the same with this phone ??

I tried to have my Eris 'format' my SD card first. Then I hooked up my USB cord to my phone and then my Mac computer. It recognizes the card/(phone), but the card shows no formatted areas/categories (i.e. pictures, music, ringtones, etc.) to open up and drag and drop music/pictures/ringtones into. Usually on other past phones, whenever I had the phone 'format' the card, then all of those areas are set up on the SD card, and it's real easy from there on out. I'm sure I must be missing a tiny step along the way, that I did not see in my on-line owners maunual.
I have hundreds of (custom-made) ringtones, songs, and pics, so I am hoping someone can give me a little guidance.

Keep in mind the stock Eris 8gb card can only write at 2mb/s this means 800 songs at ~2 mb will take ~13 minutes. If this is to slow replace it with a class 6 and it will take ~4.5 minutes.
