Will the Samsung gear s3 watch work with a song Xperia xz on android 8 (oreo)?

I have a unmodified Xperia xz and was looking at getting a SmartWatch and really like the s3 but will it work with the xz. Does anyone use both together and if they do work, what are the cons like does Spay work?
