I'm afraid if the arm tattoo is dark enough to block the IR or LED sensors on the heart rate monitor (I assume that's what you're asking), you might run into the same issue with this watch as the tech they use isn't really changing.

This applies to the Apple watch, but it does explain a bit why tattoos might interfere with these sensors.

I just picked one up today. Not even thinking about tattoos being an issue because I've had Garmin smartwatches and they have been fine.

Slapped this guy on and sure enough, the heart rate monitor and stress monitor do not work.

Now I must return it.

I wouldn't there's usually a trick or 2 to get around it. I'll be picking one up just to see if I can get it to work like I did the gear s3

Did you pick one up? If so did you need a fix for the heart rate sensor? I’m wanting to change over from Apple but previous Samsung watches have failed to pick up my heart rate. Apple Watch, garmin and Fitbit all work fine for me.

I did pick one up on Friday. Unfortunately I do need to find a work around. Also what worked for the Gear S3 isn't working for the Galaxy Watch. Ill be playing with it some more this evening. I'll update this thread with what I figure out.

Did you pick one up? If so did you need a fix for the heart rate sensor? I’m wanting to change over from Apple but previous Samsung watches have failed to pick up my heart rate. Apple Watch, garmin and Fitbit all work fine for me.

You can try putting a layer or 2 of the fabric bandaids over the sensor it work on my s3 for the most part. But really you should need a work around for this expensive watch. Do they not realize a large portion of their clientele have full sleeves?

the clothe bandaids don't work for this model unfortunately I had suggested that in the Samsung forums with the S3 frontier and classic. not sure why it doesn't work but I have yet to find a way to keep Aod working.
