Will this work as a SD card reader

I'll be taking a vacation in the future and will mainly take photos with a point and shoot camera. I don't want to take a chance with the One's low MP's in case I want to print photos or make a photo book of the vacation. What I'm hoping to do is somehow connect the phone's SD card to the One and then upload photos directly from the card to Flickr. Flickr gives everyone a free TB of storage. That way if something happens to the camera I will still have our pics safely stored elsewhere. Can I connect this to the one?

Then connect a USB SD card reader to it and have it recognized by the One? I don't know if the Flickr app would even recognize the SD card so that I could upload directly from there. Or would I have to transfer all the photos from the card to the One first? If that's the case, I wouldn't even bother getting all of this since I could just transfer the photos wirelessly from the camera to the One and go from there.

If your point-and-shoot camera has an SD card slot, you could get an Eye Fi card and connect that to your HTC One to upload. But you proposed solution would be quite a lot cheaper, so I hope someone can come in with an idea.

I would read the reviews of the device in your link first. The phones mentioned were nexus 7, but several reviews said that the phone had to be rooted to work. Other reviews said that it shorted out after a few times. The Eye Fi card would be much more reliable, IMO. But more expensive, as well.

I'm not sure how this would work for you, but I got one of these (link below) for extra storage. I don't know if you could go in the opposite direction....and it's from Kickstarter, so it wont be out until July. They still have the $12 option left, I believe. Camera cards are usually larger though.

An OTG cable should work without rooting. Rooting is (should be) only required on Nexus devices. A few bucks should get you a good one.
