Will updates be just as quick on Verizon?

Sell it on Swappa or a similar site, you will get more money than eBay and with less fees.

Google seems to be going the Apple route. If that's the case, all the Pixel phones should get the update as it's rolled out (because unlike Apple, Google does stage the updates). So, my initial gut feeling is that Verizon won't be blocking the updates like they can with other manufacturers. I don't think they'd like to tick off Google, just like they don't want to tick off Apple.

That being said, I'm not a huge Verizon fan at any rate and buying directly from Google would be the option I'd go for, as you can still use the phone on Verizon.

No; it has not been confirmed. Just more wishful thinking from early adopters.

It's okay to be excited for your new phone, but why they're spreading false information is beyond me.

I don't think I've seen anyone say for sure one way or another. I know I said I hope the writers here at AC can get an answer for us. As I pointed out in the other thread, you seem oddly angry at Google and the Pixel. I would love to know why.

I'm in the same boat, but I have the advantage of carrying a work Verizon line (I own the device and it is reimbursed) and a personal Project Fi device. I wasn't willing to risk it and went with Project Fi for the upgrade.

My hope is that the Google Pixel devices bypass the carriers for update approvals.

The updates bypass carries in nougat. We had a Google rep come in today to answer questions and he said it's all one device, no bloat and Verizon versions will get all updates without Verizon approval.

I just read that that is not true. The verizon version has their garbage red apps preinstalled.

Google will control it. It won't have Verizon bloat.
Hmmm... I don't know as I'd be too sure about the control thing.
What'd I tell ya: Google confirms Verizon will handle updates

Y'all didn't seriously believe 1. Verizon would give up control that easily and 2. Google would actually stand their ground on the issue, did you?

VERIZON is ALWAYS in control. That's why it took years for Apple to be sold at Verizon. Apple gave in!!! YOU WILL WAIT FOR THE COWS TO COME HOME, IN THE MEANTIME I WILL HAVE GOTTEN SEVERAL UPDATES TO THE ONE VERIZON GIVES. BUY YOUR PHONE FROM THE GOOGLE STORE AND YOU GET THE UPDATES EVEN WITH A VERIZON SIM CARD!!!! VERIZON CANNOT STOP THE GOOGLE UPDATE!!

Except you miss out on VZW's excellent customer service if you don't buy from them. That alone is worth it to buy from VZW despite the relatively minor issue of slower updates.

HAHAHA. that's hilarious. I was with vzw for years. Ever gone into a store? They treat you like dog****. They act like they are too busy doing nothing to help you. I hope you were joking.

Been into my store several times and I've always been treated really well All of my Samsung phones have required warranty replacements due to battery's failing. It's been fast and easy EVERY time with them.

So no I wasn't joking, my experiences have been really good. Night and day difference between the way AT&T and Sprint treated me.

Now I know you must work for Verizon. Replacements are a horrible ordeal. They use assurian, which is the biggest con! Like, for instance, if your phone dies and you put your sim in an old device until you can get it replaced...they will see a different phone on your account and deny your claim.

That's not at all how it's worked for me. I've never bought their extended warranty/coverage so I can't speak to that. I have done factory warranty exchanges.

First one happened about 3 months after my first phone with them. I went in, they installed some app on my phone, had me take it out of the protective case, had me sign that I needed a new one, I took my old phone home, they shipped me a new one. I put the old one in the box and sent it back.

It's been basically that way on all three. The last exchange, my Note 5 in July had a little more of a snag. I first went into the store in June complaining about battery draining. They asked me to please shut down my apps more frequently, I told them I didn't think it would work but that I would do that. I went back in a few weeks later, same deal, again they installed an app on my phone, had me take it out of the case, then sent me home and mailed the new one. The new one arrived and within a couple days I noticed the speaker phone was broken, I went back to the store, they did the same thing, checked for damage (didn't install an app this time) made a couple calls on it and agreed something was clearly wrong with the speaker phone. They sent me home, mailed me a new one...I boxed up the old one, sent it back. Been using this refurb for a few months now.

The process for me has always been excellent so I'm willing to stick with them until I have a bad experience. It's been nothing like my experiences with AT&T and Sprint, never tried T Mobile.

I've always had great service from Verizon as well, on the phone or in stores. No, I don't work for them and don't know anyone who does.

I have also had great experiences with Verizon service over the phone and my 2 local stores. They have always been willing to whatever I asked of them and have always helped out for the 12 years I've been there. I have had similar experiences at a AT&T store well, not sure why others see the complete opposite.
