Will you buy the Note 8 without a fingerprint sensor under the screen?

If that is true. The fps probably work just fine for me. I hold phone with left hand. My problem might be since on my note 5 there ain't a button under my volume buttons and if that is the Bixby button under volume I might have a issue there. Since my thumb is always sitting under volume buttons I might accidently hit Bixby button a lot. Lol. To be honest. I wouldn't mind an on screen fps if it works right but if it on back then I would prefer it below camera like my LG V20 is.

Rear scanner of any type = no sale. And that horrible camera housing protrusion is an affront to the eyes. Then, to top it off we get a battery that's 300 mAh less than the S7 edge. Yuck. Sticking with my S7 Edge for a while. We'll see if Samsung can get the S9 right next spring.

I have to admit, I'm with you on that. Really hoping the S9 fills in the gaps of the S8 and upcoming Note series.

I just want the S8 plus with Bixby fully up and running and the new front facing embedded FPS. I'm hoping the S9 will be that, those 2 improvements over the S8 plus with still a good size battery and then I'll retire my S5.

Exactly so.. it comes back to what I said. CDMA. Fees. Etc.

You said nothing about cost. You just said CDMA and patents. Samsung could sell them if they wanted, it's just cheaper to sell them with the snapdragon. Once Verizon's CDMA network is sunset (or even before that happens) we could see Samsung go all Exynos.

CDMA and patents = cost.. but if you want to split hairs I can't stop you lol :P.

Edit - actually I did talk about money and fees. Haha. https://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?p=5865750

There are lots of things that they can do if they wanted to like a base wirh 256gb internal, 16gb ram. Of course they have to make a balanced phone so people will be interested while still making a profit.

Too early for me - I'll wait for the "launch" instead of basing my decision on these constantly changing "leaks" and "renders"!

I know I won't. It's pretty much a certainty that Apple has this ready to go in their iPhone 8. It's absolutely disgraceful that Samsung still is rumored not to be able to get this right. They wanted it in the S8 but couldn't close the deal and now, shockingly, it's looking like a year and a half later they still haven't figured it out. I would have jumped on the Note 8 in a second as I passed on the S8 line. Still happy with my S7 Edge but I'd like to upgrade. But it's looking like I will have to wait for the S9 next spring. Samsung should be ashamed of itself if they let Apple beat them to the punch on this.

Are you aware that Samsung is the one making the iPhone 8 screens? Probably some other components too. Either way it's not the end of the world. I remember when there were no fingerprint sensors. These are mainly luxury items.

Every Note 8 leak is more and more disappointing, while every iPhone 8 leak is getting better and better. :(

I agree 1000% with you about the battery. Everyone puts a case on their phone anyway so paring a phone's depth down to the last millimeter is simply insane. No one would give a crap if the phone was a millimeter or two thicker if it had a 4000 mAh battery.

As to the embedded FPS I think this is going to be such a deal breaker and a marketing disaster when going against the iPhone 8 that it isn't even funny. If I was advising Samsung's marketing department I'd urge them to delay the introduction of the Note 8 until they can get the embedded FPS up and running.

If they rush the Note 8 to market without it, Apple will absolutely slaughter them.

So What?

The truth of the matter is only people on forums like this really care about fingerprint scanners. Nice advertising ploy, but when most people go into their carriers , it's price and deals that matter.
What is going to hurt

What is going to hurt the note is the crazy price
