Will you choose a phone with an edge next time

Does that app really work well and not hinder anything else on the phone ?

I've looked at some reviews in the PlayStore and some say it does.
Yeah, it works. You can adjust the, well I guess dead zone?, to as small or large as you want.

I have mine set to 25 on both sides, and it cleared up pretty much most of my "CRAP! I didn't want to do that!!!" problems.

Just turn the Opacity all the way up when you're trying to adjust the dead areas, so you can actually see exactly where your adjusting.

After you set it, turn the opacity back to zero, start it and test it.

Red bars on the sides are my block sizes with opacity at 100%

White bars on the sides it what it looks like running with opacity at 100%.

When opacity is set at 0, then there is nothing there.

Maybe. I don't mind the edge at all, but don't find it truly compelling either. The advantage for me is a slightly bigger screen in a slightly smaller package. Many of the edge functions (like Apps Edge, People Edge, etc.) could be implemented on a flat screen just as easily.

If Samsung manages to add more real functionality to it, that might make it a selling point. Otherwise, it's just one feature to compare against other features.

It's not even a feature, it's a gimmick.

Seriously, I see no situation where the edge is the only thing a user would be looking at to get their daily news leaders or whatever... Even in my belt clip, I have to remove the phone to swipe the edge and read it.

I use app edge all the time. Very handy to have all of my heavily used apps one Swipe away. No issues with accidental touches. Definitely getting Note 8 when it comes out and it will be an edge screen.

There are no "good" glass screen protectors for the S7 edge. The only decent screen protector I found for the phone was the BodyGuardz ScreenGuardz HD Curved Screen Protector at AT&T.

I'm indifferent to the edge screen. I'll get whatever phone is awesome at the time and within my budget. I don't use screen protectors and have never had a scratch.

the bigger battery would have been the only lure for me, but we don't get to choose now with the S8. Ah well.. Such is life

About the only thing I ever used on the edge panel was people edge for when I was waiting for a text from someone. In case people don't know, you set up people in that panel so people are assigned a color. When you turn the phone upside down, if a person calls or texts, the panel will glow with the color so you can easily tell they called or texted.

Otherwise, there is nothing useful about it for me.

Unfortunately that isn't even available anymore once you upgrade to Nougat😔

I like my s7 edge but wasted too much money on glass screen protectors that won't work with my case and the plastic ones are not so good.. Maybe if the edge is more like the note 7 screen protectors would work.

Have had my S7 edge for almost a year now. I use a case, but no protector. No scratches, dings, marks anywhere.

Wow. I didn't even notice. I have an unlocked edge on MM and a unlocked T-Mobile edge on Nougat. I used people edge on the unlocked edge just yesterday and it worked perfectly so I just assumed it still worked on Nougat.

I really didn't think I would get used to having a phone with edges or that I would use the edge features. I was wrong on both accounts. The note 7 helped to get me used to the edges even though that phone's edges were not as pronounced.

Yall think it would be worth upgrading from the s7 edge to s8?

Imy thinking about buying Ghostek waterproof case for my edge but can't decide whether to wait and get the s8 or just keep my s7 edge.

I feel really no purpose on getting the S8. The s7 edge screen is big enough.

Hmm..

Just because it's a gimmick for you doesn't mean it isn't a feature for someone else. Not everyone has the same use cases.
