Will you leave your phone at home?

I was thinking about the Gear S and how I would personally used it... The biggest question I asked myself, is "would I leave my phone at home" on occasion, in order to justify paying $10 a month (and not just using a Gear 2). To be honest, I'm still on the fence on that one. It's not that I am uncomfortable paying $10 a month, but I would not be happy just throwing that money away!

I usually wore my Gear 2 during the work day, and maybe on some weekends. However, during that time the truth is I always had my phone on me.

So, I'm curious...how will you use it? Will you leave your phone at home more often? Or leave it in the car (hidden) more often? What will be your benefits to using the Gear S?

The feature I like most is the music playback capabilities and using Bluetooth stereo headphones with it. Next would be the S Health application. I use S Health on my Note 3 daily to log my gym sessions and when I run at the beach. The notifications on the Gear S will be nice when working out. All the rest of the time my Note 3 will be with me. I hope it can withstand slight water immersion that the IP67 rating would suggest.

I did the bluetooth music with my Gear 2...what I was really hoping for (kind of a deal breaker for me), is the ability to stream Pandora by itself.

I wonder if Opera, the web browser app, could enable streaming like Pandora, etc.

I doubt that it will allow Pandora to stream. Most likely, it will just allow you to store music on it just like the Gear 2.

I hope that I'm wrong.

Yep...guess we'll know if just a few days. That's going to be a tough one to confirm until we get our hands on a working demo. I went to a Sprint store yesterday and they said the Samsung rep took back their demo. So probably won't see anything until Friday, even then I bet we'll see non working versions (dead batteries). I asked the first employee I saw in the Sprint store yesterday, saying, "do you have the Gear S".... She said "what"? HAHA

Anyhow...back to the main topic. This fall is when I got a kick out of thinking the Gear S would good for running. Figured I could stream Pandora for tunes, track my runs with the GPS, and be available in case I needed to make or receive a quick call. If it's missing one of those things, it's not as "cool" to me.

There's a few factors I'm hoping on. Main concern is Runkeeper and if they made a Tizen gear app. I have over 500 miles tracked in there and would hate to use something new. Of course that leads to what's the point of having this watch if not using S Health. Second is battery life using GPS tracking over a 2 hour course of joggjng/hiking. I don't think this thing has that kind of juice. I'm not worried about one hour but two I am. There's other but these are the first two. If these are an issue than no, I won't leave my phone and not sure if this is needed outside a connected Android Wear keeping my phone with me.

Agreed ehosy2. I can't wait to leave my Note 4 in the car and just have my S while at the gym 4-5 times a week. And as silly as it may sound, I look forward to leaving my Note 4 on my home desk and just rely on the S as I move around the house and the yard. I run a home based business, and I need to know who's calling, emailing and texting all day. In fact, I'll probably forget to grab my phone if I just need to run out to the store or the post office, etc. I use to do that all the time with the Gear Neo, but I was constantly reminded that I had lost connection with the phone. That shouldn't be a problem with the S.

Also, I can only wish but to me it would be awesome if AT&T and Samsung had it worked out that the Gear S could stream Milk Music right from the watch. I wouldn't have to bring my Note 3 inside the gym anymore.

Sold...... Milk Music on the Gear S. Sorry Sony SW3. Samsung Gear it is. Thanks rellimllc.

I run. With this watch I don't have to carry my phone anymore. I also have horses. With this watch I can answer calls from my kids who are usually fighting while I'm in the mountains so they don't interrupt their Dad and his Destiny time in the media room. LOL

I do a lot of distance running and this thing will definitley save me having to carry my phone with me too. GPS tracking/Runkeeper etc, Heart Rate monitor, Music player, Social Media notifications, phone and messaging if I should get into any trouble miles from nowhere all on my wrist for easy viewing. I cannot wait to get my hands on this!

So. Given the warnings about humidity and the device. Can we really use this to go running?

I'm gonna ignore the videos that say keep it away from water. It's advertised as IP67 so should be more than capable of dealing with some sweat and rain. I'll soon find out lol
