I think so, at the press conference I think they'll say that invites will be given away right after the conference and that general public sales will begin online on January 21st or some time in late January.

I will enjoy my Droid and eventually upgrade to one of the 15 next best thing phones that come out after the Nexus. It would be nice to have every new phone that comes out if it were my job to review them but I usually get a new phone every year or so.

I voted no, and not to sound like a hater or anything but I wouldn't pay for anything thats operating on T-Mobile. Thats just me though =/

I'm hoping the original rumor of a AT&T 3g and a T-Mobile 3g one are true.

I'm up here in Canada and while our new carrier Wind uses AWS (T-Mobile 3g) they aren't in my province yet. If they have a 850/1900 3g nexus one, i'll be getting that.

T-mobile 3g works great here in NYC, they have no contract plans and while $530 is more then I want to pay it isn't that bad. I have paid a lot more for less! Nokia 8800 Sirocco edition I am looking at you... :)

The Nexus One would have been a KILLER phone if it was available unlocked AND worked both on CDMA and GSM. Then the phone would be worth $530, because you could take your phone AND phone number to ANY network. If you didn't like your current carrier, or moved to a location where another had better service, just take your phone and number and switch!

I would if I had $579 USD (and that was before VAT I swear). 579 U.S. Dollars = 361.716749 British Pounds for those not in the know. That included phone, region-specific wall charger (extra outside the USA) and postal fee.

Inc VAT it comes out at a whopping ?425.02 (VAT rate is now back up to 17.5%).

Anyone wanna lend me ?200? ;-)

Phil.

My plan now that its on sale is to wait up to a month to see where I can get the best deal. I'm really hoping I can buy this from a physical store but the only options I see are the website and ebay (which is currently a ripoff for the n1)

I voted yes but with the news of a coming version for the Verizon network. When it comes to Verizon I will gladly pay the extra money for a non contract phone so I can then give my Droid (on a 1 year contract) to my wife. This way on 10/1/10 when I can upgrade my droid, I'll get the next greatest phone. (iPhone maybe?)

Let the cycle begin.

People pay $1000 for an unlocked phone in Argentina, so $530 is a must go. But when ebay like sites bring this phone here, it will cost around $1000 (and there will be people paying for this phone)

Yes, I am absolutely buying this phone unlocked - and paying the full $530 for it without a quibble. I'm also purchasing the dock when I purchase the phone. I upgraded last year to a blackberry, and got tired of it very quickly, so I bought an iphone (2G!!) from a friend when she upgraded to a 3GS because I wanted an iphone so badly. I figured I would just use the 2G until February, which is when my account says I'm eligible for an upgrade again, and then get the 3GS, or suck it up with the 2G until June and then buy the newest iphone. I'm talking to a CSR at AT&T about it, and she informs me that I can't buy an iphone, because even though it says I'm eligible for an upgrade, it means on every phone except the iphone, and if I want the iphone, I'll have to pay the full price, at the least the "early iphone upgrade" price, which is still about $500 for a 16G 3GS, right? So it would obviously be out the wazoo for the newest iphone in June. She said that Apple set the standards on when I could upgrade, and they only let you get the iphone at the discounted price if you are eligible for a CONTRACT EXTENSION, once your contract is up, not just eligible for an upgrade. So I started seeing the ads for the Nexus One, and fell in love with it, and I figured this was perfect. I could get the N1, have a completely awesome phone, and not be using an upgrade/contract extension to further lock me in with AT&T - it's the best of both worlds. And I figured, when it rolls around to next year and I'm "really" eligible for an upgrade, I can get the newest iphone then -IF i want one. From everything I've been reading, I'm thinking that the Android OS is going to be it for me.....too awesome!

Sorry about the long rant! Still makes me a little mad that I thought all these months that I would be able to get an iphone for the best price, only to find out the month before that I couldn't . . . . but I'm thinking it's worked out for the best!

And, I just want to say - obviously, I've been using the iphone 2G, which is EDGE, and I haven't really even missed the 3G. I'm a stay at home mom, so I'm obviously not a major business phone power user, and the speed was actually just fine for me. And I can think of the ten places I go most often throughout the week with my kids, and they ALL have wifi now anyway, so I don't think it's going to be much of an issue at all. I'm already used to the slower speed, BUT the N1 processor is supposed to be faster all around, so I might even see an improvement, right?

Soo, to finally answer the question - yes, it's definitely worth it to me to pay for this phone. I absolutely can not wait to get it!

P.S.The only thing is that I wish the N1 had Sense UI, because I've looked at a friend's Hero(?) that had it, and I thought it was beautiful. But maybe the N1 is awesome enough without it? Any thoughts from people who have seen both?
