I am new to rooting so don't know if there is a simple solution to this problem. I tried searching, but couldn't find much help.

I rooted and flashed CM7 (latest stable build) and Tiamat 3.3.7 SBC kernel a few days ago. I had to run the GPS fix, but other than that, things were good. I live and work in a strong 4G area here in Houston and was getting great speeds.

Then yesterday afternoon my 4G stopped working. I try to turn Wimax on and it doesn't turn on. I remmeber it used to say "Scanning...", but now it just says "Turning on...". It will then turn on for 1-2 seconds, then it will automatically "Turning off" and it turns off.

Any ideas? Is sprint just updating towers here in Houston?

You can try calling Sprint customer service and asking them if they're having issues in your area with WiMax... but chances are they'll say that they are performing maintenance because (a) they don't want to admit that their 4G signal isn't that strong and (b) they know you're having issues with it and don't have a solution.

If you haven't already, try flashing the latest radio update to see if that helps. It helped me out a lot.

If that doesn't work, take a NANDroid backup of your current setup and then restore an older NANDroid backup from when 4G was acting stable. If you still have problems, you can restore to your current setup because it's just the towers and Sprint wasn't lying. If it fixes the problem, you can either stay at that restored backup point or you can do a full wipe and reflash the ROM and Kernel, along with any fixes you flashed after the fact.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the help. I ended up performing a nandroid backup and just reflashing my Wimax radio (even though I currently had the latest version) and it fixed the issue.

Doesn't seem you have a connection problem, but an issue with the Wimax radio not even being able to turn on. Probably the result of a bad flash. I suggest wiping EVERYTHING more than once then flashing the ROM & Kernel.
