I have the same issue i cannot close any of the tabs.When i try to do it.It says
unfortunately,Internet has stopped.

This worked for me! I was going crazy, the tabs wouldn't close! I went under developer options and "do not keep activities" was checked. I unchecked it and problem solved! I have a Samsung galaxy note 4, Thank you UrHookUp!! You saved my day! Or a ton of my time anyway

Go to settings> developer options>apps> don't keep activities.

Developer Options - scroll to the bottom uncheck the the first box under apps

did this and was able to again close all my tabs open. crazy crap.
