Wipe Cache Partition: How long should that run?

Using the ICS GUI, I reset to factory fresh.

Then, I thought that maybe it would be a good idea to "wipe cache".

I used this procedure:

"hold volume up, home and press (and hold power) until green android logo appears. Then let
go. Then use volume up/down to navigate menu of choices. Then, menu button to select highlighted choice. "

I got a green android icon with a blue logo spinning around for over an hour.

Is that normal?

How long should it take?

Should I wipe cache before or after using the GUI to restore to factory defaults?

(This Galaxy S2 was just upgraded to ICS, had battery drain issues, and today it wiped out an exchange and comcast account, so I want to get it as "clean" as possible before configuring it.

I found the problem:

It's not the menu button to select, it's the power button to select.

Pressing menu displays that goofy spinning logo. Pressing it again gets back to the menu.

So, I wiped cache, then did a wipe data/factory reset.

That's running now!
