my stereo headset with mic (Apple iPhone) works great for phonecalls and listening to music. one thing i noticed though is that the headset is poor (almost unusable) for Voice Recognition. it's like the phone can barely hear my voice input. when i unplug the headset and speak into the handset mic - the wave form shows great input.

can someone please try a stereo headset mic for voice input and let me know how it works? also please let me know headset brand and model you are using.

my guess is that the handset mic is somehow wired for voice recognition and the headset jack is not?

thanks!

I cannot get voice recognition to work with bluetooth at all. How do you make that work?

as far as I know, bluetooth and even wired headset does not work with voice dial. when you launch the voice dialer, the only mic that works is the one on the handset.

There is a time and place to use them. I love mine in the car, though I have it built into my Head Unit now. I also think they are fine when you are waiting anywhere or are just outside.

Just take them off before you are in a restaurant or appointment someplace and they are fine. If you are expecting business calls then even that is fine as long as you don't disturb people around you, though normal calls are just as bad!

Everyone is different. I hate sandals and most people that wear them everywhere except maybe the beach or a pool. I don?t want to see peoples ugly feet, cover them up!!!

Wearing a BT headset is no worse than that!! i:Di

Back on topic...

One set I have (meelectronics m9p) doesn't work at all (read: no sound input). Another set (nuforce ne-7m) works somewhat better, but still not as well as the Evo's mic. It's a bit frustrating to say the least.

Looks like wired headsets don't work with voice recognition. I use a headset while hiking/biking for music, audiobooks, and call. I was really disappointed by how poorly headsets are incorporated.

I think because all the attention is on its internet, multimedia capabilities and use as a phone is secondary.
