Wireless charging intermittently not working

Wireless charging intermittently doesn't work. This is on 3 different wireless chargers. Sometimes it will show that its charging and nothing happens, and sometimes the charging icon shows up and then quickly reverts back to the regular non-charging battery. Sometimes a reboot fixes it. Taking it off and putting it back on the charger never fixes it. And on my fast wireless charger it will sometimes just charge at what seems like regular speed. It will still charge via cable, although I've had a few instances where that hasn't worked as well. It's all totally random. Is this a software thing or a hardware thing? Something that a factory reset will fix? Or do I just need them to send me a new phone?

I suspect that it's hardware - the wireless charging cable (inside the phone) doesn't have a solid connection. You need a new phone.

And sure enough the reset didn't fix it. Thank God I went through all that.

And now (to bring up an old thread) I'm on my second phone and still having problems with it. I even bought a new charger. Its very frustrating. Just give me my damn Note7 back that I had zero problems with. These were my first bunch of Samsung phones and they have all left a really bad taste in my mouth for Samsung. If the phone all actually worked or weren't going to explode though would be awesome! Sadly, they do not.

Have you tried using a different cable or an adopter?
Are you buying the original wireless chargers directly from Samsung?

I've had various third party wireless chargers for my phone since the time I had the S6. They worked half of the time. Later I found out that it was the cable and the adopter which were hindering the experience. Once I plugged in my original cable and adopter with the wireless charger it worked just fine.

In addition, I've noticed difference in experience with different power outlets too. Maybe there's something wrong with my house but it did vary outlet to outlet.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your phone.
Having said that, if your Note 7 worked fine then this one should as well.

Try replacing the adopter and the cable if you haven't already. And try placing it tactfully right in the center of the charger. If it's the original one then it's okay you can place it anyway you like. The one I had needed to be worked with carefully.

Best of luck with this!

Thanks for the reply. A few things...

What seems odd to me about it all is that I've been using the same Tylt and Airdock wireless chargers that I've been using through my previous several Droids and N7 and had zero problems as well as both this and my last S7E for several months into ownership. I also didn't have any problems with my 7E until the last few months. I don't get why it would suddenly start having problems on the same chargers .

I bought another one of those round Samsung fast wireless chargers and after experimenting with it last night and having the same problem where neither of my Samsung chargers would work where my old one was, it seems to be 2 outlets that suddenly aren't playing nice with the chargers so I had to temporarily run an ugly orange extension cord. Not being an electrician I don't get why the plug would matter or why it would suddenly stop working on the same plug that has been fine for years.

I did also try several power cord variants with all 3 chargers (2 sammy and 1 tylt) and no go.

What I got from your reply is that outlets HAVE been the problem for you.

I don't know either but it happened to me as well. Maybe this wireless charging technology is very delicate right now? The machinery I mean.

Anyways. Keep experimenting. But I can assure you its not the phone. I've seen this happening with a lot of people and everytime it has been the chargers or the cords or the outlets.

I just discovered that there seems to be some outlet sensitivity and even. I have 2 of the Samsung fast wireless changers and one works in an outlet and the other does not in that same outlet. And it makes no sense to me that chargers have been working in an outlet for a few years over 4 phones and suddenly stop working. Same thing with my Airdock 2.0 wireless charger in my car that has worked with several phones and now suddenly doesn't. It all makes no sense and is very frustrating. And they all stopped working around the same time. Must be some kind of cosmic shift...
