Hey guys/gals,

Does anyone have experience with wireless charging? I was poking around online and reading a lot of horrible reviews for wireless charging on the Note and S5's. People were saying that it charges up to 100%, but when they wake up the battery has been drained to 75% or less. They are also saying it get's very hot and could be hazard.

If you have experience with wireless charging, can you share your experience? Would you suggest it? What brand/model of "charger pad" would you suggest?

Any help and feedback is much appreciated. :)

Thanks!

Lugu Lake charger with a Lugu Lake receiver added to a Note 3. Been using them for months. (The phone is sitting on the charger right now.)

When I wake up I have a 100% charge on the battery. I can feel warmth on both the charging plate and the back of the phone - but a hazard? Not unless you put some flash paper or very flammable chemicals on the plate. My wooden back porch rails get hotter in the summer. Sometimes I put the phone on the charger at about 6PM and don't take it off until 10 the next morning. It was probably at 100% hours before I removed it. Never had a problem. The phone will charge at about 640mA, regardless of which plate and receiver you use, so your battery capacity in mA, times the percentage of charge it needs, divided by 640, will tell you how long it should take to charge with the phone off. (With the phone off you have to know how much the phone draws - but overnight should bring most phones to full charge. Maybe not all, but most.)

The reason I chose Lugu Lake was no bad reviews on Amazon and price. Qu is Qi. If the build is good it's going to work. (The receiver is too cheap for them to save much by using cheap parts.) A tilted stand charger would be nice, but I could make a stand for this plate it I really wanted to.

Overall, with wireless charging, wireless adb, wireless Kies and wireless file transfer, I'm happy. And my microUSB connector gets a lot less wear and strain.

It takes a bit of positioning to get the receiver making contact on some phones. Once you get the right position, use a bit of transparent tape to tape the receiver into position in a way that you can remove the battery (if your phone has a removable battery).

Thanks for the awesome information!! One question in regard to the "receiver"... Technical I could just buy an OEM wireless charging back for my Note Edge or wife's S5, and set on the charger you reference? Same exact result?

Also, I looked it up online. The red and green lights look bright! Are they bright in a dark room?
