Wireless charging w/magnet on the case

For those that have used the note 8 with the Samsung vertical high speed wireless charging dock, how much contact space is needed for optimal connection? The reason I ask is I usually keep a metal plate on the back of my case to mount to a dash mounted magnet in my vehicle.

I haven't tried it on the Note 8, but have with an S8 (so should be similar) and metal plates for the few ones I tried didn't interfere with Wireless Charging nor Samsung Pay. HOWEVER some people did report that thicker plates or rugged cases that were too thick in the right spot might prevent the charger from kicking in.

Wow. Thanks. I didn't really think it'd work at all through the metal plates. Guess I'll have to experiment some then. Cause I tell you what, the dash magnet mount I had was the best $10 I've ever spent on Amazon. My phone never even vibrates when docked.

Curious to know also. It's the reason why I usually stick with ProClip mounts because they're great at keeping the phone stable during bumpy rides.
