Wireless charging?

Apple was doing this long before Google did. I remember way back them putting a proprietary chip in their cords and chargers so that you had to buy products that were certified by Apple to get the performance you wanted, or to even work at all.

As for the sentiments that Google is becoming Apple and they're starting to be a for profit company now...

Yes and even evil empire Apple moved away from that model. As to the rest re Google making profits (no problem but doesn't mean anything goes), I have a number of thoughts on their business model and strategic vision that are too long for this thread and some butthurt will inevitably whine that I'm not precisely on topic, so they'll have to wait for another time and place.

I really hope the rethink and if not violating any agreements or patents allow fast charging on standard devices, but if not I am fine with the slower charging on the Qi pads I already have.

Not a deal breaker for me, but I am disappointed.

It's a different proprietary standard like Samsung has their own proprietary wireless fast charging but there are many third party wireless chargers that support Samsung fast wireless charging.
Google is working with third party chargers to certify with made for Google program so that they work with Google's proprietary fast charging. Belkin is supposed to come out with one soon but unfortunately none of your existing wireless chargers suddenly will support Google's fast wireless charging.

It does suck all these companies are coming up with their own fast wireless charging standard but it's what it is.

From what I have read only Razer phones use the standard Qi fast wireless charging standard.

I really hope the rethink and if not violating any agreements or patents allow fast charging on standard devices, but if not I am fine with the slower charging on the Qi pads I already have.
