So I just bought a Samsung wireless fast charger for my N5 and it will not work with a case on. I have the Incipio Dual Pro and a Verus High Pro Shield. Nothing with either of them. I don't consider these to be thick cases but it won't work. I've seen videos of the charger working with an otterbox on. Is this normal or do I have a defective charger? Or am I missing something? Thanks.

I would reach out to Samsung and see what their response is. You should be able to wireless you charge with an OtterBox defender case. I have a TYLT VU wireless CHARGER and it works with the OtterBox defender case. If Samsung says it will work with a case, then take it back for a replacement or very another brand. I have seen a lot of posts where Samsung's regular wireless charger is very temperamental.

It should work. Try contacting Samsung. The only case I know that doesn't work with the wireless charger is the new mophie case for the Note 5.

Ok I'll see what they say. I've used it without a case and sometimes it won't charge then either. Most of the time no issues, but sometimes I have to pick it up and put it down a few times to get it to start(caseless).

So is there a better wireless charger than the Samsung fast charger? This one just isn't working. I got this one because I thought it'd be the best. Is the tylt vu a good one? I really like that one but was leary because I've heard of phone overheating on it. Is this just with certain phones or really a non issue? If there's a better one out there that'll work with a case I'll return this one and get the better one. Thanks.

I really like the TYLT Vu and I have not had any issues with the Note 5 getting hot on it. Last night it took about 2 hours to charge the phone from about 22% to full on it. I really like the fact that it has a very wide range on the charging plate, meaning that you don't have to worry too much about trying to hit the "sweet" spot for wireless charging. Now, the galaxy S5 does get warm on the TYLT Vu, but I think that is due to the receiving pad in the S5 not being able to receive a charge as quick as the TYLT can charge a phone.

You can find some TYLT VU knock offs on Amazon that are cheaper, I don't know how good they are though.

I would definitely recommend the TYLT VU.

Imarek, does it work good with a case?

Yes it does work good with a case, I have used it with a UAG (Urban Armor Gear) and OtterBox Defender on my Note 5 and an OtterBox Commuter on a Galaxy S5. I have had no problems using it with a case.

Check out the Cheotech Fast Qi charger. This is the one I am going to order. It has great reviews from many places.

Bought a tylt vu today and it works perfect. Thanks all.

Your Samsung Fast Wireless charger must be defective. Mine works fine with all cases including Otterbox Defender & Commuter.
I believe you must have purchased the regular Samsung wireless charger and not the "Fast Charge" model.
The TYLT VU is not a fast wireless charger but does work just fine.

No its the fast charger. Says right on it. I'm thinking it's defective to. The Vu seems to charge pretty fast. Went from 73% to full in about 25 minutes. Good enough for me. I charge it overnight anyway.

I have a note 5 with a Seidio Surface case (which is kinda thick). I also have the tylt vu and samsung fast chargers. Both work great.

Not that it matters, but I am on Verizon.

Oh, and nutbag that I am, I have an old Nokia charger in one office, some nondescript generic one in the other office, and a mini samsung charger (previous generation) in my car. All of those qi chargers work fine.

When I first got the note, I had a silicone el cheapo case from amazon. Not only would qi fail, nfc was non functional.

When I got my Note 5, At&T had a special going and I got the Samsung wireless charger for $25.00. I have a case on my N5 and it charges just fine. I have it at my office and use the charger that came with the N5 at home.
