Wireless N Bands

I did some googling and couldn't find an answer, so maybe someone here knows.

Does the Thunderbolt do the 5GHz band or just the 2.4GHz band? At home I could only do the 2.4 but didn't know if I needed to configure something differently to get it to show up.

Also, on the top of networking, 2.4GHz still runs at N speeds as long as there are no G devices on it correct? That should be good enough for HD video correct?

Thank you all once again.

2.4GHz is most commonly used, so I'm guessing it's probably just 2.4GHz. And yes any network will only go as fast as it's slowest client as far as I know. So as long as you only have N devices then you'll get N speeds, although, that doesn't really matter unless you have the actual speeds through your ISP.

Like I have an N router but I only have 20Mbps speed through my ISP. I'm not going to get 108Mbps or anything faster than 20Mbps for that matter unless it's just file sharing/transferring. Browsing, gaming, and streaming will only go as fast as your ISP speed.

Yes that is true, I was thinking more on the lines of through my PlayOn server while connected to wifi. I would assume that should just be an internal connection, with no dependency on the ISP speed...so I should be getting N speeds in that case as long as no G client is connected. If only I could get fios in my area I'd be good to go! :)

It's 2.4ghz. I have a Dual Band NETGEAR router and I have different SSID's for the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz. The Thunderbolt doesn't see the 5Ghz SSID but sees the 2.4ghz just fine. Other 5Ghz devices in my household see both (such as the Xoom).

On most dual band routers can you run 2 2.4GHz bands? One for your N devices, and the other for your G...I don't have any N devices that can do the 5GHz band, but would like to keep them separate from the G so it will run at N speeds.
