Wireless Storage problems

I'm on a 15" Macbook pro and I do the following:
DON'T use Safari. It works MUCH better to use the Finder to connect to it like a shared server.

From the finder, go to "GO" menu and select "Connect to Server"

Then enter the address as "smb:\\xxx.xxx.xx.xx " X's being replaced with the appropriate IP address you're phone will give you

It will then prompt you for you name and password and those are on you phone as well.

This was the exact issue I has back in the day with BlackBerry.

The default was "afp." I changed it "smb" and it worked. Thank(ed)s.

Super late response, but for anyone still having issues on Windows, just use Internet Explorer like ShinyTop mentioned and it will work. I was trying it on Google Chrome as well as through Windows Explorer directly and it didn't work but IE did.

I have been trying since Boxing Day to fix this problem, ringing my ISP, Router peeps, LG, Phone provider and they all said it was a Microsoft error and game this to download
Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit
Here you are:

Download Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit from Official Microsoft Download Center

By the way it did not work for me...:-*

Would appreciate any help that you can give me.....Love this phone, but I would love to use this feature.
THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Dear blue duck butter:

Did you solve the wireless storage problem? I found this thread and saw that I am having exactly the same problem as you (I hope) were. Same error messages, and I am on Windows 7 64 bits.

Mentioning just in case, as it's not apparent in the last several posts, that Wireless Storage has to be ON and running on the G2 FIRST before doing any of the explorer stuff (typing in IP address or device name, etc.). So even though the G2 is connected to the network, typing in the IP address won't do anything until Wireless Storage is turned on, on the G2.

Confirming that this worked for me as well. Tried Chrome, Windows Explorer, and all the other variants, but then tried IE and it worked with just the phone IP address - didn't even have to enter the \\.

Just an FYI for anyone else encountering this same problem. I tried all the other suggestions in this thread to no avail, but my PC still would not allow me to connect to my G2. What finally worked for me was to go to my PC's Network and Sharing Center, click on change Advanced Sharing Settings, and then turn off password protected sharing. Once I did that, and then entered the 198.168.x.xx in the browser under My Computer, I was finally able to access my phone.

Hope this helps anyone who may have the same problem!

I will have to try this when I get home, could not connect at home yesterday. I had no issues connecting with my MAC at work though!

I have a mac that is on OSX 10.9 and I have tried everything but Wireless Storage is not connecting. I tried through the browsers and with the connect to server option but nothing works. I aldo tried smb:// and the IP address but it was a no go also.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks!
