can anyone just upload the apk?

Not sure if it works on Verizon, but with AT&T, to find the wireless tether app in the market you just have to put the phone in airplane mode and enable WiFi. Then check the market.

It depends... do the TOS state that you can only connect a certain number? VZW does.

Data thru a phone is much less than data thru other methods (PS3, XBOX360, laptop, desktop, internet enabled tvs for netflix). That is why it is unlimited to use on the phone. When you use your Phone to connect your other 8 devices, you are able to use much more data. That is why tethering is more. Previously, if you have unlimited on the phone @ 30 bucks, it was 30 bucks more to add tethering (capped). The reason was because it prevented people from trying to use their phone as their internet connection cheaper than getting an air card/ mifi @ 60 bucks a month.

Kinda like your employer paying for your gas in a company car and then you filling up all your family's other vehicles by siphoning it out of the company car every day. Yes, he is ONLY filling up your car.... but that is not how the system was designed.

You're an awfully credulous person if you simply accept that a company says they're going to charge you for something, whether it makes any sense or not.

Data is data, whether it's coming from your ISP or over your phone. It costs Verizon next to nothing, whether you're tethering or not. There's a reason they made a 1.44 BILLION dollar profit in the first quarter alone. There's absolutely no reason to think it constitutes theft, and even if it does, it's a drop in the bucket that's very, very obviously not hurting them.

Cookie and sprinkler are two DIFFERENT things. Data is that, data.
Carrier always find a way to make money. Imagine, if online video becoming more common, like Netflix, HBOGo.com, etc and people ended up watching more videos on their phone, what would you feel if VZW start selling TWO TYPES OF DATA: video and non Video?

I'm not arguing that they are rightly charging us for using tethering. I'm arguing that they do charge for tethering, and therefore have the right to tell you that you can't tether outside a tethering data package.

Yeah, it sucks that you have to pay more for something that should be free, but you signed your contract knowing what the rules were. Fair or not, they're the rules, and VZW is entitled to enforce them as they choose.

I'm sure that what amount you use doesn't hurt them. I am simply answering the question that was asked. The reason they have it set up this way is that if ALL of their customers used their phones as their source of internet connection for ALL their devices, it would most definately hurt them.

Just as i am sure your boss wouldn't mind if you siphoned a little gas to your kids car when they run it almost out, just to get them down the road to the gas station. Wouldn't hurt him a bit for that to happen.

I have absolutely no moral qualms whatsoever about taking back what tiny portion I can from our corporate overlords.

I can confirm that I cannot find the app with my Verizon Thunderbolt but can find it with my previous Sprint Epic 4G. :'(

If I rooted my phone, would I be able to find it in the market then or any other "hidden" apps? I know I can probably side-load the app if Verizon blocks it but just curious if rooting would fix this censorship issue.

No don't think that would do it. But there is a Rom over at xda that has it included in the Rom so no need to download. Probably this will be our new way of getting this app. Then back it up. And restore on a different Rom that you like better.

People like you are the one encouraging corporations to do WHATEVER they want at the expense of the customers.

Gas goes to $20 / gallon? Hey, it's their rules, right?

Data cap at 500Mb like Rogers Canada? Hey, it's their rules, right?

Oh, your apartment rent goes up by $500 / month? Hey, it's their rules, right?

LOL! +1. After working 60-80 hours / week and got 2% raise, why not? While my CFO receives a $150,000 RAISE from a previous salary of $1.4 million ..... :-$

maybe you should have gotten a better education... or maybe you were just born dense and it wouldn't have mattered anyway

I'm all for free tethering and trying to get around the rules, but you idiots take the cake thinking you DESERVE free tethering. It's people like you that are what's wrong with this world.

You think Verizon are your corporate overlords...when YOU walked into THEIR store and bought a phone from them

Holy 5h1t! LOL! I am dense and need better education?! Wake up and smell a coffee! Better education does NOT mean you WILL be making $1 million a year. Go back and learn how things work in corporate world.

I am certainly making good money but not a mil a year... not yet!

Hey Mr. "Air Force One", didn't your momma teach you not to have potty mouth? Oh wait.. to quote my "dense" friend.. you "...should have gotten a better education.."

Wait.. I should stop here. My education taught me "..not to argue with idiots, because they will drag you down to their level.."

Well I doubt you ever make more than minimum wage but if you ever do manage a million a year, just know that there will be some numb-nut like yourself thinking you don't deserve it, no matter how hard you worked for it.

Ha...I'm not the one working 80 hour weeks and still not being able to afford tethering. So, who's getting bent over by the company? :D:D LOL :D

Now I will move along :D

Welcome to America.

What bothers me most is that our founding fathers didn't have the foresight to include the people's unalienable right to cellular telephones. How could they have overlooked such a necessity of life? :)

Seriously. We would probably be on like 153G by now. Jeez... ;)
