I still use the very first google account that I created several years ago. There are many things tied to it all over the web. However, now that I am studying to become a teacher and using my email to communicate with people on a professional level, I'm realizing how bad I need a new username/account. I created a first name.last name account to sound more professional. I created a post a few days ago asking how to transfer all of my google related data to my new account. I'm finding that it is going to be a hassle. But I'm also asking myself if I should even attempt it. Do you guys feel it's best to have 2 accounts to keep work and personal seperate? I'm not crazy about the idea of keeping up with 2 accounts, but also don't want to risk mixing anything from my personal account with my work account. I probably won't be using my work account for anything other than email

If you let Google do its thing, it learns about your interests and content reflects this. On my professional account, I want it to be clean and only to get notifications when important stuff happens. This is easy to manage and to keep simple. On my more fun aka main account, I want mostly entertainment and enrichment content and the more variety the better. It also seems to help separate my attitudes towards events depending on which hat I'm wearing and thus which account I'm interacting with.

I use one account for employment, records and school and another for shopping, logins, media, and just about everything else.

Anything with a gmail or yahoo name in it does not convey professionalism to me.

I have two accounts, one personal and one for work. The reasoning is that it's more organized and I have a better idea of what type of mail I'm receiving when I get a notification. It's also less cluttered and easier to find a specific email you're looking for when you have separate accounts. On android it's easy to switch back and forth between accounts so that's also a plus.

yes Chinese Wall is good.

Perhaps you misunderstand; many very large business' use Google Apps. This doesn't mean that their email says FordStaff@gmail.com, rather it would say FordStaff@Ford.com. But they are STILL using their google account. The problem arises when in real life they may have personal opinions that they publicly share that may reflect differently than they wish as a represantative of their company. This is a very compelling reason to keep work and personal separate. Or to simplify: you might be fired for advertising your anarchist sympathies on your @whitehouse.gov google account :-D

I have 3 accounts:
1 for work: projects, bosses, workmates.
1 for informal personal use: friends, fun, etc.
1 for formal personal use: bank account, university, etc.

So far it works great for me.
