With the Note 7 coming out Aug 2, why is there no hype? I would think places like Best Buy would be advertising deals.

The hype has been toned way down now that everyone realizes the 19th is the real street date. :-\

Well the unveil is on August 2nd. After that date is when I am sure we will see more ads.
Thanks for the info. I didnt realize that the street date was the 19th. What do you guys think will happen to the price of the S7 once the Note 7 comes out?

It most likely will stay the same since it is still new. I would say in a few months there may be some deals / discounts available.
Should have gotten those digits and see if you could get an early sneak peek brah.
Sucks that its coming out on the 19th. No phone for 3 weeks now.

I'll swing by BB on the 3rd and see if it's on display.Nothing will happen to the s7... the note is not a upgrade from the s7, and was never intended to be.
The 7 flagship phone line comes in various styles... edge, regular, active and note. Each has their features that make them distinct, but none of them is designed to be an upgrade from the others.

It's not coming out August 2. It's announced. And most people don't know anything about these events. A phone shows up in store or is advertised with window displays and then most people get their interests peaked. The people here are a small group compared to the rest of the population when it comes to phone tech and releases.

Historically, retail price of the s7 won't drop much for carrier models. For international unlocked, you would see a slight drop.

Cool. Amazon sells them a bit cheaper, but I wouldn't trust those 3rd party sellers and would buy mine at Best Buy and pay a bit more if I decide to get a unlocked one.

Stores like B&H do offer the global Exynos variant a while after launch.
I'm thinking of going down that route.
The lack of hype (from consumer side) is probably new device fatigue due to diminished returns. The hardware from even two years ago is good enough for most apps and if not for the sealed batteries most are using now, probably even less overall interest. Even the iPhone is hitting interest fatigue- especially with no subsidization.
Factor in the N7 appears to not be much more than the S7E except with more storage and a pen- double whammy.
Triple whammy if the price for the N7 is nuts high (probably will be). This would explain the free 256GB micro sd with preorders- if that is true, of course.
The Note 4 as perspective still plays every app smooth and is still a great device. Plus has replaceable battery.
