I have sprint as a carrier and I have the unlimited data plan. When I had my S3 I just used EasyTether (we have the worst DSL where I live) and now that I got my new S5 I saw there's actually a tether option! Is this free with Sprint? (I'm using it right now to type this so I hope so!)

To the best of my knowledge, no. I think any tethering done is charged. I would contact Sprint (my preference has always been via chat, as they send you a transcript to your email) and ask.

Oh okay, I think I'll do that now XD
Do you have the sprint unlimited plan? And if they charge then I wonder why I wasn't prompted when I connected

I have unlimited, but I never connected to my phone's hotspot, as I never wanted to possibly incur extra charges.

No its not free. You have to enable it on your online account with Sprint and then the min change is $29.99 / month extra. If you try to circumvent the charge by other means of connecting they can terminate your account. I only use it when I go on vacation and just add it for a week or two here and there and then subtract it from my account afterwards.
