Same problem here. No pattern to it, either. Just happens out of the blue, and then fine for days or longer.

perhaps male post are dirty ... try turning the phone off .. then take an unconnected usb micro cable, put a little 90% rubbing alcohol in the female part of cable, then insert onto the male part do this three times ... wait 10 min ... make sure alcholol is all evaporated. connect everything live. Your phone should show a red light on top of usb micro connector. wait 10 min to see the animated power lights, a rectangle with lighting strike, followed by a n empty rectangle, wait 4 more min and press and hold power key. phone should turn on with about 0% power showing be patient and let it charge 100% you can start using it at 10% without much threat of accidental outage, but do keep external power applied.
