2 phones bought at same time, same software updates done. One phone frequently has a problem taking landscape shots and won't respond to pressing the shutter. If the phone is rotated to take a portrait it responds to the pressing the shutter button ok. Rotate back to landscape and it doesn't respond. It's an intermittent fault, workaround is usually to shut the camera app.

Welcome to AC!

The phone with the problem you tried resetting the camera app by clearing its data and force stop it?

Welcome to Android Central! Also pay attention to the screen area where the shutter release button is while the camera is in landscape orientation. Does that screen area sometimes have touch problems in other apps?

Start simple, everyone always skips the basics.

If the touch area is fine in landscape in everything but the camera at least it's not a hardware issue. and can proceed accordingly thereafter.

Download a multipoint touch app (don't have any to recommend) and see if it responds to touches in landscape where the shutter button would be.
