Hello Everyone. A few months ago I bought a BlackBerry Z10 (upgraded from the iphone 4s but it ended up being a downgrade). I had so many problems with the Blackberry that within a period of 3 months if was replaced under warranty 3 times. It was playing up again and I couldnt be bothered to argue with them again and decided to go for the LG G2.

The one thing, and only thing, I miss about the Z10 is the word substitution that I haven't yet found on the G2 or don't even know if it exists. Hoping you can help as search engine results have not proved successful.

For example on the Z10 if I was to type certain words, then other words would appear in full which was great for business. For example, if I typed 'wdirections' the directions to my business would show up and I'd click enter and from typing those 11 letters, I would get 2 paragraphs of text coming up that provided complete directions. Or alternatively I would type 'wpay' and all the info on how my customers could pay would come up. So I would type a few letters or a few more and paragraphs would come up. Unfortunately on the G2, I cannot seem to add words to the dictionary that would let me word substitute. On the BB Z10 it was called word substitution so I would type a few letters and sentences would appear instead if I pre-saved them.

Is there any such feature on the G2? If not, I need to send myself an email, then copy the text, then paste it into a message (generally whatsapp or BBM) to send to a customer and it becomes very time consuming.

Any help appreciated.

Thank you so much, Sam

Woooaaooo, I never heard something like that. Before Android devices I used BlackBerry Bolds, 9700, 9800, 9900. The Z10 is the long waited BlackBerry, I was tempted to go back when I see it in AT&T store. This word substitution you're talking is freaking great, I would love that in my LG G2. Maybe, and just maybe, you can find an answer in the BlackBerry best forum, it's called Crackberrry. If you used Tapatalk is really easy to access Crackberrry. Good luck there.

Kii keyboard has that option. It's available in Play Store.

Thank you everyone. So if I download this program and install it, I can set words to substitute? So I can type ss and ss = sam@example.com and then just by typing ss, the email address will appear etc etc?

If this is the case, thank you so much and will download immediately but which one is better? Kii o Swiftkeyboard?

Thanks so much!

I believe that Kii is the only one to have the "text shortcuts" feature.

All you need to do is use the Clip Tray that the G2 has. You can either type what you want and copy it, or if you already have the info on an email open it up and copy it. Whatever you copy will then be in your Clip Tray until you delete it (if you want to). Then you just long press wherever you are typing (Text, email etc..) and pick what you want from your Clip Tray and there it is. To delete from Clip Tray just open it the same way, long press on anything in it and a x will appear on all of them. X out what you don't want. It is very easy to use.

Thank you everyone. My concern is not so much copy and paste as it's time consuming switching from one to another and for different customers I need different words.

For example on the Z10 I would save wpay as full payment details, bank details, etc and just from typing wpay, 2 paragraphs with all the info would come up. Or for wdirect, all the directions to our shop would come up. Given that some people ask for payment info, others directions, others policies etc, just typing a few letters and having paragraphs of text come up without copying and pasting each time was a god send. If I can do that with these above programs, it will be amazing. Can I or is it just single word substitutions? So far it's the only thing I miss about the Z10. Everything else about it was really bad.

Really thanks again so much for all your help

I have Kii set up so when I type the three initials of my company it predicts my whole company name, address, phone numbers, etc. I also have other shortcuts like "ph" for my phone number, "addr" for my home address, and many more. Swiftkey has a better prediction engine than Kii, but Kii is the only one that I have found that you can add all of these personalized shortcuts.

Thank you so much again. I am going to download Kii and see if it helps me :)

Yes, I downloaded Kii and the option is there! You have to manually input words for example.

This word: ss

will b replaced by this word: Directions to my garage can be found by ....

and when you type ss, the other words come up. You can type whole sentences, paragraphs and more. It's great!
